Re: Question about the request

The UMC music has no "rules" for submission, so any music can be UMC, electronic, synthesized, lute, anything.

Re: tyler-johnson.net compositions

By the way, szopen, I'm not sure which carol you're talking about. It must be a coincidental melody, because I wrote this one messing around on the piano one day. :D

Re: tyler-johnson.net compositions

Hi guys, although I appreciate your interest in my compositions, they're not available for GPL use, as I am under a contract with an exclusive production company. I forgot about that folder and I'll be taking it down, sorry! :D

Re: Battle music (2 pieces)

Hi soundandfury, if you're thinking of composing for mainline, you'll definitely need better samples. I would hesitate to add anything that was sub EWQL Silver Edition, and trust me, you can squeeze a lot out of that library. I composed Casualties of War and Into the Shadows using the EWQL Library, ...

I'm still alive...

Hi everyone, I've been extremely busy and haven't been able to comment or add to the forums for a while, but things will be slowing down soon, and I will be able to commit some more time to adding music and actually being a moderator for this great project. It's looking like August will be my return...

Re: Into the Land of Madness

Hey CheeseLord, thanks for the comments. Yeah, I know about the snare. I guess I was just too lazy to fix it before I bounced this :) The strings still need some work as well. As far as mixing, I just used some mastering plugins, and some really great reverb. I used EWQL and VSL in this piece, and s...

Re: Into the Land of Madness

Yeah, that's an orchestral chime. I'll probably end up dropping the velocity on it, and layering with a mellow glock for a more muffled soft sound rather than a harsh "church bell" as you said.

Into the Land of Madness

I'm working on new battle/action music for the game. I've got about 2 minutes done so far, and it can be heard here: Into the Land of Madness It's a working title, and I'll change it when it's completed to be more suitable to the game, but it's just a start. And by the way, I'm still working on Ench...

Re: Battalions

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between a thin and thick sound once you've heard both side by side. It doesn't take a musical knowledge to tell the difference either, once you've had really good wine it's easier to recognize cheap bad wine. Thin Percussion Fat Percussion Thin Brass Fat Brass...

Re: Battalions

Jarkko, I'm glad you would want to contribute to the game. A couple of things though, you will need to invest in better quality samples. Those that you have just won't do. The brass is very thin and the percussion has that "machine gun" effect. As far as style, you're right on the money. I would sug...

Re: Composer (Contribution)

Charly, great work. The harmony in this is great. If you're considering this for mainline, I would take all of the spoken words out. It doesn't really fit with the theme and style of Wesnoth. It's more suited as a film technique., think Revenge of the Sith :D One other thing is the timpani/percussio...

Re: Where are the Music Lords??

Hi Cheeselord, thank you for the concern. I actively check the boards, sometimes not logged in. I AM still working on a cruise ship, and will be until July. I have a lot of things lined up after that, and I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to contribute to the forum. Personally, I don't know ho...

Re: Enchanted Forest

Actually I put sheet music under my pillow and when I wake up all the music is written out.

Nah, actually I write evrything in Cubase on the piano roll. Staring at red squares for hours on end has never been so rewarding let me tell you.

Re: Enchanted Forest

Sounds good to me (can't comment on the mixing, though). However, I'd suggest leaving out the chirping birds: IMO the piece itself works in a variety of environments, but the birds would sound a bit odd if you're underground. I knew I would get a comment on the SFX :D I actually didn't think of thi...
