Re: What about this?

lipk, your avatar is tripping me out :) I like this piece stinogoal, in the beginning up to about 2:00 or so, I think you could come up with some more creative harmonic functions though. The I/IV at the beginning is pretty cliche, and at :26, the harmony is just too modern for the style of the game....

Let me clarify something about the sample requirements...

I don't want you to think that you need EWQL so compose for Wesnoth. In terms of quality, that is the minimum we expect. We just get a lot of submissions that are clearly using outdated samples, and have no place in the Wesnoth music world. My best advice is, before you even begin to compose music f...

Re: MuseScore for UMC music composing

Well, this is a professional project. If you're intimidated by a DAW, then you're not going to go very far composing music professionally, it's just the times. And music notation software is definitely NOT the way to go for Wesnoth music.

Re: About the new sample requirements

Hey West, good to see you back! For the Free SF2 samples, the site I created ended up getting a lot of traffic and people were downloading them like crazy, and I was getting emails about using them for commercial products. I decided to take them down to prevent any legal action, since I did not post...

Re: Storyline Music

I'll have a listen to this later today, but I just wanted to say this: We've had numerous pieces that have had piano in them try to be submitted, and nothing has worked. If you listen to any of our music, there is no piano in any of it. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I have never seen anyone be...

Re: Storyline Music

Thanks for making a new thread, and I like this piece. High quality samples as well, well done. A few notes right here: at :27 something is out of tune, only for about a second though, and the harmony from :38-45 is a bit too modern, remember this game is set in a fantasy world, but musically we're ...

Hi Cheeselord, can you create a new topic for this track?

I'll have some critiques for you later today, I like the track, it's quite different than what we usually get!

Info. Regarding Sample Requirements [UPDATED]

Requirements for Submission We have a lot of composers who are wanting to add music to Wesnoth, which we highly encourage. However, there are some minimum requirements for the quality of sounds needed in order for your submission to be regarded for mainline. The minimum sample requirements for subm...

Re: We are in need of the following music -

I like Loyalists as well, so if someone wants to tackle a re orchestration using the same themes with higher quality sounds, I'm open for that :D

Re: We are in need of the following music -

high_credo, welcome to the forums.

A better idea would be to post something Wesnothian instead of linking us to synthesized music. This is not an ad forum.

Please read this.

Thanks,

Re: We are in need of the following music -

I'm wanting the older tracks to be replaced with higher quality samples. Although the form and music might be a great fit, the samples are outdated. If someone wants to transcribe it and re-arrange the piece using higher quality sounds, be my guest, or completely re do the song in its entirety. -Tyler

I didn't know that was ever committed. Ok, scratch the Northerners replacement then.

We are in need of the following music -

Short, storyline music (not epic battle music). :30-1:45 in length, should not be too over orchestrated, but simple and convey a story (again, not too epic). Replacements for the following tracks are also needed: Loyalists , and Main Menu Theme. I want to lengthen this one so as not to have it be so...

Re: Question about the request

You can use this one:

http://www.tyler-johnson.net/wesnoth/on ... ndsuns.mp3

This is a non-exclusive track, so just credit where credit is due, and all is good :D

I would have submitted it to Wesnoth, but the Electric Guitar prevents that from happening

Re: tyler-johnson.net compositions

Oh, I can see the resemblance now. Yeah, it's quite different though, 4/4 vs. 3/4, tempo is different, but same melodic line :)

Like Mozart said "There are only 12 notes, we're bound to cross creative paths with each other at some point." :D
