While it's okay, the 'Marksman' weapon special is more complicated than most abilities in Wesnoth, less well tied to its lore explanation, and occupies design space too similar to the 'Magical' weapon special. Presenting a replay from a 6-player game. Hexcake: Khalifate, Undead, Khalifate vs Khalifate, Knalgans, Knalgans.

Draw inferences as you feel. The main thing I'll point out is that falcons were still great, and still very easy to level. And of course the daring escape by my leader.

Rigor and I played Northerners vs Khalifate both ways around on Silverhead Crossing; Northerners won both times. When I won it was via troll spam and a dose of good luck, while Rigor won through the more tried-and-tested method of better play.

Rigor, my impression from that replay is that the trolls perhaps attacked without enough support and got a bit unlucky. It certainly didn't seem enough to conclude that the trolls aren't a good recruit there -- anyhow I'd like to see more games (and will try to provide some).

Walking Corpses already all have fearless in 1.8.x, so that isn't so much of an issue for this conversation ... I'm not sure if that was the case in earlier versions, but it's not new for 1.9. Another replay of the Khalifate beating Knalgans on Silverhead Crossing. Similar strategy of a daytime assault spearheaded by Arifs backed up by a healer. Jundis are also a notably very strong (because versatile!) unit.

Here's a game with the Khalifate winning over Knalgans on Silverhead Crossing. The Arif was very strong here. Thanks for the thoughts. I want to be clear that balancing things comes before lore - we can explain about anything after the fact, but it isn't balanced then what's the point. Hi Noy, I'm sorry, it wasn't clear at all to me that this kind of comment was not being looked for (though it was clear that this wasn't the only thing being looked for, I thought I could offer more insight here than elsewhere). My biggest concern is that I don't understand the resistances at all. Most of the resistances of most of the units in Wesnoth are flavour-driven, and this is one of their strengths. Minor tweaks might be made for balance reasons, but the mechanics are resonant with our expectations: arrows are poor ...
