Re: Bigger Maps

We generally don't encourage people to create maps around 200*200 or larger because they tend to bog down the engine. A lot. The limit was not raised in the editor also because it'd need an interface change, and the reason for upping the hard limit in the engine was some existing maps above 200*200 ...

Re: Map Editior Question

If you mean getting to see UMC terrains in the editor, the easiest way would be to look at how existing mainline campaigns with custom terrains do it, like UtBS. Essentially, add a editor_group=something attribute in your [terrain] tags and it should work and show nicely as a separate group on the p...

Re: Wesnoth not accepting unit

You seem to be closing the [abilities] tag twice, once in the macro and a second time in the unit code itself. hence the error, since you end up with [unit] .... [/abilities].

Re: How to start the game?

wesnothd is the multiplayer server. There should be a "wesnoth" executable, which is the game. Try "scons wesnoth" to be sure it's built. You are most likely missing some dependencies for the game and there's most likely a "wesnoth will not be built" line somewhere. Find out what you're missing, add...

Re: Cannot downlaod addons

There's a bug in 1.5.11 ( https://gna.org/bugs/?13059 ) that makes addon downloading not work on Windows. The problem is fixed in trunk.

edit: also, this is mentioned on the main page and apparently there are fixed binaries available for Windows

Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime error/mapeditor

We need some more info, that is, does the error happen before you get the "select file" dialog, or after you choose a file to open or a name to save under? Is the error still there in 1.5.10?

Re: How to compile Wesnoth on Windows with Dev-Cpp

A note to McShark (and possibly other interested people) -- the VC9 project file in trunk got modified slightly with a new build typea and missing header(s), so it'd be a good idea if you got in sync.

Re: "Bug" report on dev. 1.5.9

Unless a lot of devs invoke OAB, this could become an advanced option in a future version. I guess 1.6.1 is when it could be done.

Re: Raytracing green leather

Leather is very much about the texture. You need bumps, creasses, grain and whatnot. Bump mapping with some sort of procedural texture should help a lot. Have a look at http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8258/redbk6.png it would look like plastic but the random cellular structure gives it a leathery...
