Re: Uploading a campaign

Ok, it solved by itself, just little cosmetic bug, when reaching 92% the progress bar reseted and actually finished uploading when it reached 8%.

Re: Of different approaches to scenario design

As many are saying here, I guess it depends in how much you rely on story and how much on strategy. It is true that some tomato surprise are nasty, but, if done well, they add spice to the story, and when somebody is playing a campaign, I believe is more because of the story than because of the game...

Uploading a campaign

Few issues on uploading a UMC: 1. In BfW 1.4 campaign have the campaign name called _main.cfg, and is inside the campaign directory, but in order to upload seems that you have to put pbl and cfg file named like the campaign Folder, and outside of it. Is that correct? 2. I made it to upload my campai...

Asking for permission

I am about to post in the forum my UMC. I used some protraits I found on a zip package of portraits I found, but I couldn't trace back. I would have like to pm every single artist I used for my frankesteined portraits, but I just couldn't know who was the artist, therefor, I will try to pm the one I...

Re: The bright side of side

Arrrgh... I found it....
And of course, as usual, it was the most stupid thing ever.
Instead of turns=, i wrote turn= at the scenario level, so the scenario had no levels... Hours!!! Hours spent!!!!

Re: The bright side of side

I'm making some progress. It has nothing to do with changing sides. Well, not what is NOT related with the issue is not a big deal, but well...

Re: Revolution

Did you check the recruitment_pattern? Maybe it could help.
By now I won't send you the code because is veeeeeery long, but I will take your word for it, he he.

Re: The bright side of side

Thaks for the tip. I checked it out and it was implemented the same way I did, so I guess the scenario is ending for a reason not related to team names.
Weird...

The bright side of side

Ok, I surrender... This is getting tricky. I want to make the player in my campaign select the side to fight for at the beginning of a battle. I used [modify_side] to change team_name depending on the option selected by the user but... No matter what, the scenario ends with DEFEAT at the beginning o...

More feedback

Ok, I just played scenario 4, here we go with the feedback. 1. Is fairly easy (well, i'm playing on easy), but is still funny. Maybe a little too much skeletons and to little corpses, but anyway gets balanced with the ghosts 2. The map is a little bit too... flat. May a river somewhere or something,...

Re: Why not LUA?

Ok, no need to get mad. My point was just that programming, specially something basic, doesn't need to be hard. I was talking about examples like the one I read (in this thread) where some users would doubt that a non programmer could be able to understand this if x== 1 then x=2 end Or it has been s...

Re: What If

Come on Turin, only for the very cases you mentioned it works like that. If I have a variable name "MyHero" I want it to be a representation of my hero, not a representation of my past hero. This is basic OO, I ceate a variable that points to an object. If the object is altered with another variable...

Re: What If

Yes, thanks, automatically stored variables are of no use in this case, because the unit to be checked is not part of the ever, although, I saw now the "this_unit" that is returned in a filter. Can I use a filter at any time in the code just to retrieve a unit? Will that affect the behavior of the e...

Re: Why not LUA?

Very interesting topic. I see that several people here believe a tag language like WML would be always more simple for the user than something more... programming like. Well, the first source code I ever did or saw was HTML. Right now I still find it very difficult to work with. C++, fantastic, so e...

What If

I stored two units at the START event, and at the end of the scnario I check the .y of each, to determine if the scenario end in victory of defeat. I have to evaluate this value in several places (end of turns and when player reaches a certain place). The problem is that, when I evaluate, the .y of ...
