Re: Comment on Eleazar's Terrain Improvements or other threa

The problem is that I'm not that good with pixel art, or art of any kind for that matter, myself, and trying out fixed could be out of my league. I think I'll have to do what I can, though. One other idea I had in mind was to bring a camera on a sunny day and have a stroll outside. Too bad today's a...

Re: Terrain

The pitch (steepness) of the cone roof might not provide enough traction for snow to stick perfectly. You might end up with voids where snow has broken free and slid to the ground. A pile of snow at the base of the wall would fit. It sort of begs for an animation... :D Great work! Well, that is the...

Re: Comment on Eleazar's Terrain Improvements or other threa

Kraus: Water is an extremely complex and elusive phenomenon. Currently water accounts for ~1000 out of the ~3600 terrain image files. It's not technically practical to have different animations based on the time of day, especially with the speed-bump the current water causes. I think what we have w...

Re: Comment on Eleazar's Terrain Improvements or other threa

Oh, I think I've seen some water from other angles than a horizontal view, but yeah, your point is somewhat valid. :) However, even if Wesnoth is portrayed from an angle we can't see without an aircraft, and we can't see watery surfaces like that (usually) every day, a problem remains. Even in the p...

Re: Comment on Eleazar's Terrain Improvements or other threa

What has bugged me a lot with the new water animations, is the lack of contrast and brighter lightning. Especially during day, when it is (to me at least) obvious the sun is shining, the water animation looks like the day is actually cloudy. The extreme parts of waves should bling and shine a lot mo...

Re: Ancient Lich Development

I can think of... at least five ancient liches featuring in campaigns: Malifor and Ro'Arthian in NR, Mal Ravanal in TEI, Mal Keshar in DiD, Mal M'Brin in TSG. I'm certain there are more. They are more common than you think, suffice it to say. The basic Lich is not being re-done. The two in NR I rem...

Re: Ancient Lich Development

I think I need to have a chat with jet about the methods to use for this before we go too much further. Specifically, to clarify whether we try to make every Ancient Lich unique in sprite and animation as well as portrait, or whether we go for a single generic sprite. The artist and gamer in me pre...

Re: Ancient Lich Development

I think the robe/bling thing is passé and useless particularly for this character. A Lich is the ultimate stage of necromancy, I don't think it bothers with clothes of human trivialities. Bling should only be applicable if it has a super magical necklace or ring (not that it would need them anyway)...

Re: Ancient Lich Development

Just to toss in compliments, I'm thrilled about the direction axl took with his lich. Just sticking out extra arms seems pretty obvious, generic and - above all - not that useful. Ancient liches, I reckon, will have lots of material to build their bodies from, and taking advantage of other races tha...

Re: Rogue Wizard revisions - lvl 2 concepts

I might be using elven ice magic effect as a halo, or make some icre of my own. Next I wonder how an animated icre would work in WML - that is not compulsory, however, I suppose. The highlights on his tabard are not facing the halo at the moment. That needs to be fixed. Other than that, comments? At...

Re: Rogue Wizard revisions - lvl 2 concepts

Probably, somewhere. If not, ask in the WML workshop, it's not too difficult. Or, look in Battle for Meridia at how I did it for the Elder Shaman, Spirit line, Swarmcaller line. I used the same technique. Yeah, I suspected this'd get more complex than I figured at the beginning... :| You know, one ...

I trust there is a tutorial for that in Create section of Wesnoth website?

Re: Rogue Wizard revisions - lvl 2 concepts

Nice! I really like the costuming on this guy. He needs some highlights, though. For the "Icy Fire", I believe that Rhyging had posted his amazing method. Although I don't know how to do any of the things he describes, you might want to search for it. That was the one I was thinking about myself. :...

Re: Rogue Wizard revisions - lvl 2 concepts

Hi! Back to the drawing board. I started with a concept of lvl 2; Shadow Mage. That's the idea, basically. This is just a concept, not a finished model. Criticism and suggestions are welcome. :) It would be cool to actually animate the icy fire he's conjuring from his hand, but we'll see if I have t...

Re: My first frankensteins - Rogue Wizard revisited

Nicely done! My favorites are 2.2 and 2.4. For some crit, most people would not find it comfortable to rotate their arm like that. The sprite would look much less akward if his sword arm was in a different position. The scarf you made on the last one has very good shape, but is lacking contrast; lo...
