Re: How to compile Wesnoth on Windows with Dev-Cpp

Hmm, it was successful. Even strange. :) It works, thank you. But what about national languages support? I remember, when I tried to compile it some months ago, it was said install also gettext. But there were no mention of it in the current guides. Without it I will have no lang. support? copy libi...

Re: How to compile Wesnoth on Windows with Dev-Cpp

Hmm... Today I've tried to compile it in Windows... First I used "The easy way" by McShark, then -- more detailed one by Mist. In any case compilation is stopped with some error. Last time is was this: src/ai_village.o -o "wesnoth.exe" -L"G:/src/Dev-Cpp4/lib" -mwindows -lzdll -lmingw32 -lmingwthrd -...

Re: Make Heir to the Throne the top/main/default campaign?

I disagree. At least the South Guard do a better job here. AFAIK the south guard give a lot of advice about how to play your units when you're playing on easy level, which HttT doesn't. Still... we are talking about beginners, right? TSG on easy is extremely easy, of course (when you have some expe...

Re: Decrease Delfador's power over the course of HttT

Ancient Liches and Armageddon Drakes are meant to be front line units Only they don't know about it themselves, I'm afraid. Every time I met them, they sat in their keeps and recruited units. In httt, both are even passive_leaders. Level isn't a measure of physical toughness and power, it's a measu...

3 thieves and rouge, if you select the option with reinforcement.

He was supposed to be loyal? But his cfg says: upkeep=1.

Re: Decrease Delfador's power over the course of HttT

Really, for game balance purposes the last thing you want is a Delfador in HttT that has a massive 5th level 20-4 attack. I did never suggest this, btw. Delf is there to give Konrad an edge when he is young and vulnerable, but you don't really want him to blow away units outright. Ideally Delf gets...

Re: Scenario Review - Tutorial Part II

2: You can recruit the second archer into the wrong slot. I accidentally recruited where the shaman should've been. Minor, but not consistent with the other pidgeonholing. BTW, in 1.5.0 this scenario is broken. You can only recall 1 Fighter, and then, whoever you recruit, Galdrad kills him and says...

Well, talking about hammers I meant something like this (my picture is terrible, of course, just the idea):

Re: Make Heir to the Throne the top/main/default campaign?

HttT is a much better choice as the top campaign for all of your listed reasons. I agree, and I'd also mention another advantage of this campaign: the player encounters during the campaign almost all existing units. It could be useful later. Just if the tutorial also mentioned AOI as a shorter star...

Re: A problem with un-stoned units

Not sure whether it is a bug or a feature, but I guess can be solved by setting each unstoned unit's attacks_left parameter to 1 via WML... It is 1 already: [unit] advanceto="null" alignment="neutral" alpha="256" attacks_left="1" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< cost="72" description="Elrian...

A problem with un-stoned units

I've noticed a strange problem. HTTT, The Valley of Statues (yes, I know, it's not in mainline, but I don't think the problem is with the scenario). At the picture is the moment when the units were just unstoned. You see this orc near the castle. Units like Konrad or Lisar can attack him. But units ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.5.0

@Anym: I found your proposals about the 1.4.1 release very helpful and tried to incorporate them as good as possible into this release. But the problem he talked about still exists (Pic. 1). XP numbers are practically not visible. And another problem appeared, BTW (pic.2) (but that should be the co...

Re: Decrease Delfador's power over the course of HttT

To be honest, I see no much sense in these ideas. Delfador already was reduced in power. Who he was in "Legends of Wesmere"? Great mage. 9-2 and 16-4. And now he's elder mage and has 8-2 and 14-4. Isn't it enough? First make him real level 5 unit (by power) and only then reduce this power if you want.

Re: Desktop icon for the dev-release

It makes me immediately think "KDE" It makes me immediately think "KDE 4 ". While I like KDE (especially some earlier versions, like KDE 3.3; and with icons from KDE2 set), the KDE4 with its "eye-candy futuristic look" is just HORRIBLE . :x I can only hope in BfW will be nothing of KDE4 or GNOME in...
