Re: Leader messages not displaying

Thanks for your reply. First I changed the "speaker=" to "id=" in the message tags and that didn't work. What did work was removing the leaders from the [side] tags and making leader units with their own IDs. After making the units, I found that using speaker= or id= within message tags both worked....

Leader messages not displaying

I cannot for the life of me figure out why my leader's messages aren't displaying. I've searched the forums and read the Wiki, and I can't find anything on this. My units can talk. Just not my leaders. Here's my code: [multiplayer] id=Multi_Tutorial name=_ "Training" map_data="{~/campaigns/Training/...

Re: Era of High Sorcery

Sounds good. And I like the Ulf change. If the main idea of the game is that the hero is a great caster, (and it seems like that's what you're going for) he shouldn't be killed off easily by 1 or 2 units. I'm still not clear on how nature is supposed to be played. The other two schools seem to have ...

Re: Era of High Sorcery

This is definitely worth trying out. I played it five times already. Great work, Pillager. During our play, we did come across some of the unbalances; namely, that Ulfs are huge threats to heroes (which is always a Red Mage). Assassination of the hero in general can end games quickly, but Ulfs curre...

Re: Selectable Unit Traits: A Proposal for Future Versions

People who prefer randomness over strategy are, by and large, poor players. And it makes sense that they would be. If you're an above average player, why would you want an aspect of the game that would give your opponent a non-skill based edge? This assessment assumes that randomness and strategy c...

Re: Let's see moves as they are being done

I’ve noticed this too, and it is somewhat anti-climatic and annoying to see someone’s moves right away at the end of their turn as opposed to a play-by-play. But I understand the reason for it: that it’s less confusing and more efficient to only see permanent moves. Imagine seeing your opponent’s un...

Re: Problems Loading a Map

Got it to work. The problem was the map was named "Training.map." It should just be a map file named "Training."

Sorry for all the posts. In the end it was just a naming issue. Thanks for your help anyway.

Re: Problems Loading a Map

You mean the ~ right? Tried that.

As well as:

@/campaigns/Training/map/Training.map

@campaigns/Training/map/Training.map

@/campaigns/Training/map/Training

~/campaigns/Training/map/Training.map

/map/Training.map

~/map/Training.map

Problems Loading a Map

Hello. I previously had no trouble loading my multiplayer scenario. However, now I try to run the map (which it finds in the list of maps, without the overview correctly showing), but I get a map load error. I'm using the path correctly. The map is located in my userdata folders: /data/campaigns/Tra...

Re: Tutorial for Multiplayer

Because, like I said, I'm trying to teach someone very basic concepts and I feel like they would need me there (this person doesn't normally play video games to speak of). I also feel that a normal MP game will vastly overwhelm this particular person. The add-on idea may have been too much, but coul...

Tutorial for Multiplayer

Hello. I'm trying to teach someone how to play Wesnoth from the very beginning and want to guide them through the tutorial. Problem is: We would have to do this through the server since they live far away. I tried moving the whole tutorial folder to where multiplayer scenarios go, but I'm not able t...

Re: better interface for the new replay archive

I think this database is a great idea-I've already started using it. There have been a number of times when I wanted to see a specific replay, but don't know exactly who was playing when and had a hard time finding it. The filters will help tremendously with this, and I can't think of anything you'r...

Re: The Archive of HODOR

To say that HODOR cannot be used against even highly tallented players to good effect is a statement that has been repeatedly disproven. Sure, it can be used. Is it viable to use all the time? No way. I don't know about you, but every time I use HODOR, I feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Thieves ...
