Re: A few simple ideas

Most matches between two units are hit-or-miss frenzies, but realize that a whole battle (on a map that's not ridiculous like Isar's) constitutes so many units and so many dice being thrown that the impact of luck is generally pretty even.

Re: Balance Issues

Chance of hitting... doesn't exist either. :hmm: Outside of magic and marksman attacks, the only thing that exists in this game is the chance of BEING hit. Being neutral does not give you unlimited opportunity to attack or defend because, remember, the enemy may still be lawful or chaotic. When the ...

Re: Balance Issues

Eh? Most people I see play Knalgan, Drakes, or Undead. Also, neutrality is not an advantage. You cannot be penalized by time of day, but neither can you ever be boosted. Oh, and hit rate does not exist. All of your chances to hit are based on the what unit the enemy is using on which tile. Try it ou...

Re: A few simple ideas

Higher level units generally have more hits available or special skills (like the Marksman's Marksmanship) to help them hit their mark, though. Also, realize that what you're proposing will damage game balance, biasing it against high defense units. A flat reduction of 10% defense hurts a unit that ...

Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability

So, first time the unit attacks it will deal double damage, the second attack will deal normal damage. The unit recieves normal damage in both cases. Wouldn't this actually make charging units even more powerful? Since they do 150% damage and get 100% back, meaning they have a 50% advantage, where ...

Re: Rant about unit stats...

If you really want your level 1 units to not be instakilled by a knight (actually, plenty of level 1 units can even be instakilled by the horseman... and horsemen can instakill some level 2's while lancers can instakill some level 3's), you can A. keep your instakillable units away from the Knight's...

Re: Recruiting Styles

This all comes down to the question of whether the handful of extra gold you get is more or less valuable than the diversity and firepower of having your slower units. Personally, I never leave home without a fast unit, or two if it's a large map, but I would hate to be completely run over by the en...

Re: "Fantasy Wars"

Can you tell me a little about what the factions play like? Like, what sorts of units are in the game, are there a lot of "oddball" units or are factions mostly mirrored, are there any particularly fun units, do units "level up" into others or is there city building and tech trees? Is there a magic ...

Re: Where do dwarves live?

Also, bridges are hybrid water/plains tiles, and you could think of the naga/mermen on a bridge tile as being in the water under the bridge instead of on the bridge itself.
