aelius: You've declared suprise that I have progressed in the campaign so far. Well, it seemed pretty easy to me after a few tries, at least at the lowest difficulty level. Here are some remarks about the scenarios I've played: The Kerlath Border Seems straightforward once you learn what initial mov...

'The Choice in the Fog' scenario is strangely won right after the first turn, dunno why.

Similarly 'The Messenger' is lost after the first turn, presumably because Sir Gerrick isn't created.

Re: Scenario Review: Isles of the Damned

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario? (5) What were your major challenges in meeting the...

Also, even if your tribes -> people -> nation was applicable, tribes would not fit, because the elves are much more organized than that. I'm not saying they aren't; I was just commenting on Jetryl's perception of the word "tribe". IE etymology is, of course, irrelevant in a fantasy world where you ...

While we're on this subject, I would really like to see the elves NOT called tribes in TEI in "Tribal warfare". Your dislike is only due to ethnographic nomenclature and Western point of view. The chain goes like this: tribe -> people -> nation, tribe being the least advanced ethnographic unit. "Tr...

I've upgraded the campaign from the server and I can't play it anymore :( BfW says something like "107: found illegal tag '/then' at end of 'message'" when loading the first scenario (the message was very wide and I had to switch to 1280x1024 to see it all onscreen). The funny thing is that there is...

Repudiated can also mean "disowned" or "disinherited" (a repudiated son), but I don't think it's the intended here.

Is a 500 kB file Huge? 50 MB might be, if you've got dialup. It downloads in two minutes and a half even on a 56 kbps connection. You'll spend more time looking over the campaign than downloading it.

Check your route to campaigns.wesnoth.org (traceroute or similar tool). There might be a faulty host somewhere that rejects your connections once in a while. What connection do you have? What is your ping to the campaigns server? For comparison, I must do with a measly (not even) 56 kbps and a ping ...

Also you may not want all the campaigns to automatically offer the new unit. It might have been designed solely for specific conditions, and could unbalance other scenarios if players were allowed to recruit it.

More importantly, how can you steal a word? Common words (those which can be found in a dictionary) cannot be patented, if that's what you mean.

Hmm, now I can't effect the original display bug, all I do see are just boxes, which means that there is a font problem. Specifically, the font does not have any Polish diacritics except ó and ł (which are in Adobe standards). However, the fonts supplied with the game claim to possess a full Unic...

Problems with Unicode

Forgive me if this is obvious. I'm new to the forum. When I run BfW in languages other than English, I see UTF-8 strings being encoded as 8-bit, which of course is far from ideal. I'm using Windows XP, but do ported U**ix games somehow bypass the Windoze API? The same problem happens in Freeciv. Thi...
