Re: Utilising northerners (esp. Goblins?)

i love Northerners, but i think they have a problem:attacks. Trolls and grunts only have 2 attacks. Spearmans, fighter elvesh, drakes fighters or undeaths warriors (for example) has 3. Its a problem :hmm: - Shadow cost is an enormous effect, which goblins are immune to. This is huge. Level one unit...

Enable delayed shroud update and move your unit hex per hex when needed. There are very few times when it really does matter what path the unit takes and for those cases. Move it by hand.

I understand that but the problem is that the 98% CPU usage does appear with the 7 startdwarves already and nothing you can really call a fortress present. Although the game still runs nice when i do have 100 dwarves .. but nothing else will run. So i have to shut done df when i want to check my mai...

How to fight/handle higher level Units?

I run across some difficulties when facing higher level units in Campaigns and also in MP. Is there good way to fight Units of higher level except from outnumbering? I do can bring down a level3 when surrounding him with 6 level one guys and just ignoring that one or two of them dies in the process ...

I always though an ability more fitting of hit and run would be allowing a unit to move after an attack has been made. Don't know whether that can be done without coding changes though. One can do this with WML, so no problem to code it but it results in a very significant and hard to resolve balan...

Re: How to Play Isar's Cross

1) NEVER hire a scout. This map is small and a 5 move unit can reach anywhere on the map you want to be. Hiring scouts will have your teammate screaming n00b on turn 1. [...] I do not take the water village as a Dwarf player, because 24 gold is too much to risk over 4 gold, and even if I take it, I...

Though it has a somewhat hard learning curve i love this game.

And i have some kind of "Bug" to report. It has about 98% CPU usage with a 2.6Ghz CPU. Is this normal or is it because i use Wine to run it on a Linuxmachine ?

Losing is fun : )

I find it a lot more easier to imagine to movement of any given chesspiece on the board than the movement of any wesnothunit on hexes.

Maybe this is just me but i really think it is easier to split any movement
in a sum of 4(2) directions than in a sum of 6(3) directions.

443. You instantly kick anyone who joines your MP game and yells "Go! Go! Go!!!111"

444. You code a wesnoth extension that writes "one more" to the chat whenever there is only one player missing to fill up the game.

The word 'Muff' does exist in german.
it means something along: 'air that is a bit stinky' or 'the smell of an old cellar'

not that bad for undead ^^

Help file gives wrong (?) advice

I downloaded the source of wesnoth-1.3.9 from this website and unzipped it. There is a file called INSTALL there that gives me advice how to install wesnoth. It says: Compiling: First untar the package: $ tar xfjv wesnoth-x.y.z.tar.bz2 then $ cd wesnoth-x.y.z Do this $ $ make $ sudo make ...

May I throw my two cents in? SurvivalXtreme and Clonkinator's RPG also have some fine shops to look for. Just in case anyone is interested... It's all because it's Clonkinator's, huh? Defense of the X also features shops. (Replace X with your favourite flavour, i.e. Wose, Goblin, Marshal...)...
