Re: Ambush? I think I don't get it.

In multiplayer, the vast majority of the time that the enemy uses stealth, you will know (or at least suspect) that they have a unit hiding in the space. It would be rather annoying to have to sacrifice an attack just to reveal an enemy that you already know exists. This especially for things like w...

Re: Winning The Siege of Elensefar on hard

Personally, I would go back and redo it but not so that you can get the storm trident but so that you can get all that gold back. The faster you finish missions, the more gold you get and the easier it gets to finish missions quickly. Turn 19/21 on Muff Mal's is also pretty slow.

Re: Winning The Siege of Elensefar on hard

This is my take on it from a fresh replay.

I honestly played pretty sloppily throughout and was pretty reckless with my loyal (if I was planning to play the rest of the campaign I'd give it a second try) but this should give you an idea of how easy this one can be if you reach it with more resources.

Re: Winning The Siege of Elensefar on hard

Just looking at your replay, it seems like your overall gold level is pretty low for this mission. Try to focus on finishing the level before it as rapidly as possible to get the largest early finish bonus. I don't happen to have a replay of this scenario handy but I'll quickly play my way up to it ...

Re: Panther Lord (EoFM campaign)

I feel this reflects a bit why it's not always worth laying out a specific path. I rather suspect the reason that taptaptap would have more difficulty with the establishing a claim scenario is that he would rely a lot on tribesmen while that is a scenario that naturally favors a malice/viper style (...

Re: Panther Lord (EoFM campaign)

Perhaps I should wait for you to go back and edit that post a little but since you are requesting a response I'll respond to what I think you are trying to say. From the other side I agree with the opinion that the campaign can end in so way that you would concentrate on Malices only. What I believe...

Re: Panther Lord (EoFM campaign)

To be honest, I'm not sure what to tell you in terms of 'doing things right'. However you find to solve the challenge is good as far as I'm concerned. Now if you're having a lot of trouble and want help, I can tell you how I did it and I might be able to identify mistakes that might be tempting to m...

Re: Panther Lord (EoFM campaign)

That's not actually a bug, the imperialists are supposed to use the lower defense in forests. For what it's worth, Panther Lord on normal difficulty is at just slightly above the difficulty I find comfortable to play at. Enough that it's occasionally frustrating but not so much that it can't be over...

Re: How unbalanced is Age of Heroes as of Sep 2016?

I'm glad someone got around to getting rid of Silver Mages. I don't see any reason to remove it honestly. I suppose that if you're looking for everything you release to have a certain standard of quality I can see why AoH would be a stain but when it comes to it I don't see any harm in giving people...

Re: How unbalanced is Age of Heroes as of Sep 2016?

AoH was never designed to be balanced. You may be able to find a couple factions relatively balanced against each other but it would surprise me. Tweaking the gold settings would do nothing to help the balance. The problem is that the capabilities of the higher level units and especially the leaders...

AoH is imbalanced to the point of being beyond fixable.

Re: Slow Conundrum

It's fairly intuitive to me as a board gamer. In board games you don't have fancy ways to keep track of when a unit is slowed so you'd go with some simple rule like "at the end of your turn remove all the slow counters on your units" which is what happens now. Retaliatory slow is pretty go...

Re: On Wolves, the Feral trait, and miscellaneous units

When estimating the overall offensive power of a wesnoth unit, it's actually a fairly decent idea to just go with (Strikes x Damage) regardless of how it's distributed. The distributions do affect things, particularly in any individual engagement but in the long run it evens out to being pretty much...

Re: Ladder Council

It doesn't surprise me in any way that knalgans have a weaker win rate in general, despite them being my favorite faction I've never felt that they were exceptionally strong with the exception of the undead match-up issue but I'm curious about your assertion that you think that that's a good knalgan...

Re: Orcish assassins have half movement on hills?

Searching for this question being asked before may yield some results you find interesting. I don't have time to relate it now but it has been talked about before. For what it's worth, although I really don't think northerners need any more help, I really don't think orcish assassins being able to m...
