Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Considering the amount of time and effort that has been dedicated to the loyalist series, I would really appreciate that mainline campaign portraits remain coherent with the generic series. LordBob, for both visual and continuity reasons you have my enthusiastic support on this point. As a historic...

Re: Proposed additions to Manual

Ivanovic pointed me at this wiki page:

http://www.wesnoth.org/wiki/ManualSuggestions

It's a bit of a junkpile - as Ivanovic notes, some of the stuff on it should not be done - but there are a few usable ideas there.

Tasks for writers

This sticky will be a list of current tasks for writers. We'll try to track whio is taking the lead on what task here, as well. 1. The wiki documentation is currently not very clear on which bits of $() syntax are supported in general WML, outside the FormulaAI. Probably the FormulaAI page needs to ...

Introductions

This topic is for our writers to introduce themselves. Check in and give us some idea of your interests, your capabilities, and your availability. I'll start. I'm your Lord of Prose, full name Eric S. Raymond, and yes I'm the famous open-source ESR but that probably will never be relevant here and f...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Alright, so here's some more versions of each portrait. By higher value yes, I do mean an overall lighter value. Sorry, I use art terms because when people say lighter sometimes they mean higher saturation, and its useful to separate what one is referring to, lightness or brightness. Let me know wh...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Alright, so here's a change of the rendering of the portrait. I don't know if I can get it too much higher value than this without losing most of the form. But let me know what you think. Also, since noone called dibs on it yet, I sketched a quick possible portrait for Lionel, it doesn't look too m...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Yea thats what I was thinking. i honestly feel somewhat uncomfortable using such saturated colors but thats specifically what ESR said he wanted and the pictures of Cerenkov Radiation which I sampled directly from are pretty saturated. I'll try some thing and see what happens. We've miscommunicated...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

By tweaking the history timeline just a bit, I've managed to make a separate portrait for Garard I unnecessary. I have edited the top posting accordingly.

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Yes, I know they're (visually speaking) bands rather than boxes now. But I don't have a good feel for the size of the portraits.

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Forum size is roughly portrait size in game, so would they not appear fairly legible as hieroglyphs to the viewer? Huh? The dialog box images are really that large now? If so, maybe. Also, concerning the right blue color, Esr, do you mean the lighter blue which can be found along the sides of the o...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Something like this? Only obviously taken to a more refined level? This is my take on it after looking at photos of Cerenkov radiation Headed in the right direction, but Cerenkov is a lighter blue, a sky blue or almost cyan. And we'll need that, because a dark blue would tend to fade into a black b...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

It was partially stylistic and partially because I was trying to portray a perspective of the mask above the viewer but I didn't make the contour lines of the eyes follow that perspective so it just looks like the top of the head is really small. I changed it, I hope you like it better Yes, I do. C...

Re: The Hammer of Thursagan portrait repaints(update4)

Sorry you feel you weren´t properly informed about the repaints. I´m new here and started to do these portraits by request, so I didn´t even consider the possibility of the author not knowing. I attach no blame whatsoever to you. And I should note that while I have some design issues as I've noted,...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Well I am up late and saw this post. I sketched a little and came up with this rough concept. It's not what I had visualized, but I kind of like it. The eyes and mouth work, but the skull dome looks out of proportion to me - too small. Was that a deliberate stylistic decision? I think something lik...
