Re: [SPOILERS]Conflicts in lore and Delfador's Memoirs[SPOILERS]

IThe history states this under the heading 470 YW : " Orcs under Great Chief Zorlan and undead raised by the necromancer Iliah-Malal raid Wesnoth's borders. All but the first and last scenarios of Delfador's Memoirs take place in this year. " The timeline had a minor in this regard, which I have co...

Re: New Text for TRoW

Wow, Melinath...that's very impressive. And I say that as one of the people who wrote significant parts of the cultural back-story you're mining - I found I needed to flesh out some of the original author's bare hints in order for the narrative to make sense. This should go on the wiki as a WesnothL...

Re: Wesnoth calendar

Speaking as the current Mr. Continuity Guy, I say we go with a more SFnal approach - actually model the solar system and try to be consistent. This will be important for works-in-progress like Thunderstone that will be more SFnal in flavor (with space travel as part of the background). One thing I c...

Re: Melinath's Scenery: signposts.

We've had inquiries about adding ae, dd, and ff glyphs to steel-hand. We won't add dd. Steel-hand has a glyph for the edh sound this digraph represents in Welsh, we'll use that instead. I can't actually see adding ff either. In Welsh, 'f' -> /v/ and 'ff' -> /f/, but our transcriptions of Wesnothian ...

Melinath: Kitty and I have been through two iterations now. You want to look at this:

Re: Melinath's Scenery: signposts.

Melinath, I'm the current keeper of Wesnoth continuity. One of the reasons I'm wearing that hat is because I have some relevant knowledge in areas like phonotactics and comparative orthography. I'm also familiar with a wide variety of invented writing sytems for fantasy ranging from Feanorian to Tso...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs portraits

I like this portrait a lot. (DM co-maintainer speaking.)

The technical-polish issues are technical-polish issues - good they're being worked on, but IMO not blockers.

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (new in mainline - artists needed!)

As for the Oracle, I could maybe try something out. Would it be one image with different trim and coloring or four different portraits, one for each? I think one portrait in a ritualistic pose with four different trim colors will do, especially if the face is obscured or blindfolded - which I think...

It's about even, I'd say. Oops...better add that to the needs list.

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (new in mainline - artists needed!)

JustinOperable, I'll certainly take an update of the Tomb Guardian if you tune it as per Kitty's instructions, but I think it looks more than OK as it is. It actually looks better in situ than it did on the forums here - the glow around the mask and the ioun stones looks super good against the dialo...

Try putting "wmllint: no-syntax-rewrite" before the macro.

Yup, that'll do it. Committing shortly, and removing the Tomb Guardian portrait from the task list.

Re: Delfador's Memoirs (about to go mainline)

Here's a tomb guardian with more glows for the stones and a bit lighter value overall. It doesn't feel finished but it's starting to look more usable. OK, we have now passed a threshold. Make that background transparent and I'd use it without hesitation. Do what you need to make it feel finished; I...

Re: Introductions

My availability is high, but I doubt there will be much call for my skills once the manual edits are done. You must be joking! We're desperately short of people who understand human factors in any systematic way - closest to it among the core devs is probably me, and that's not bragging nor is it g...
