Re: So, I see that the luck aspect is controversial...

^ Very much agreed. Luck is the challenge of this game. It is the bane that players must overcome in any campaign, not the actual computer AI itself, in my opinion. If luck had less of a role in the game, the campaigns would be ridiculously easy. Luck can't be a "challenge," because challenges are ...

Re: Ladder Site Online...

A timelimit is common in chess. And it is needed in competitive play. What however is needed is a pause function for the timer. Its enough if it is a multiplayer command usable by the host.. I like this idea! Also you should get a bonus for each unit you have, because otherwise factions with cheape...

Re: Speed of undead units

I'm quite amazed the topic starter's speed problems with UD come from the knalgan matchup To me, the problem of the undead units being slow is most evident when playing vs loyalists or drakes. So you think loyalist are less slow than knalgan! Did you ever try Footpad, Griphons or even HODOR...

Re: How to reduce Player 1 advantage:

1. What is a "lake of villages?" *Summons spellchecking powers* I believe lake of villages was supposed to be "lack of villages" as I cannot imagine a bunch of villages in a lake does much good. ;) Thank you for correcting my english, that was what I wanted to say.... @Doc Paterson: Thank you for t...

Re: How to reduce Player 1 advantage:

Remember, no noticeable similarities between sides at all, but you want to give each side an equal opportunity to win through superior strategy and tactics. Okay.... let's try, hope this will bring up some productive things.... no noticeable similarities between sides at all The only map like that ...

I still don't follow you: almost all default maps are almost symetrical.....

Re: How to reduce Player 1 advantage:

No, you missed the point. You're not considering things like the fact that when player 1 initiates combat, they have "behind them" one more full turn of moving and recruiting. That affect goes beyond early game. TOD changing right before their turn is often very significant as well in the above men...

Re: How to reduce Player 1 advantage:

I think my english is really bad or i was too tired yesterday to explain myself :? I will try to do best... It's fairly confusing to have a village that you should be able to take if P1 / P2 retreat... yet you can't. For the first few turns, the players would take the village and sit back, dulling t...

How to reduce Player 1 advantage:

I would like to talk about this rules : To offset player 1 advantage (if it is significant), you can use village placement to make player 1 run a bit further, or maybe backwards a bit in order to grab all his villages. This is a fine-tuning thing, I suspect, and hard to get right without playtesting...

Re: Ladder Site Online...

Sorry I haven't been around much lately guys, I will try to do my job better. However, I am wondering what the opinion is for having a tournament everyonce in a while for the ladder players. Not sure what the format would be yet, World cup format maybe. If you have ideas or suggestions, please post...

Re: Make settings games more intuitive for more decent games

The problem is that nothing is clearly write about how to create official setting on the Creat Game panel. At least put the map setting checkbox at the top of the screen and before setting scrollbar is more logical and intuitive to create a recommended game for the choosen map. About the timer, I kn...

Make settings games more intuitive for more decent games

Having so many settings to open a game is nice but it can be boring.... Almost all official maps are balanced for one setup: xp=70%, 2gold per village (that's fine!) but more than 50% opened games don't use this setting! Why? -Maybe because some players don't like official (recommended) setting and ...
