Yes, rendering fullscreen 2D without hardware acceleration is surprisingly slow, especially at large resolutions. This is very apparent during scrolling, when the whole screen has to be constantly redrawn. OpenGL is simply the easiest way to get platform independent support for hardware accelerated...

I suppose he is complaining that the faction developement forum contains to many uncompleted factions so he can't find playable and finished factions. In that case, you may prefer to have a single Release Forum for factions, maps, scenarios, campaigns and graphics. HOWEVER, I think we have enough f...

Unfortunately, Liberty has never been ported to be compatible with 1.2 and that's why you can't find it on the 1.2 add-on server. AFAIK, no one is planning on porting it either, so it may be that it'll never become playable with the new version(s). Is there any cementary for old stuff like this? I ...

You just aren't lucky. But not as unlucky as when you realize your "real username" is being used by someone who isn't you at all. Yeah, I hate people who do that. I saw someone called commenderkeen and I thought: I'm not a "celebrity", Why does some #@$% person have to imitate my username? 18 Chara...

If I remember correctly, 1.0.2 didn't have that "feature".
I'm not against it, it's perfectly obvious. If it isn't your turn, you're not supposed to control your units' advancement.

Re: Hi again all ...

One of the problems with the Shamans, for example, is that the level 4 suffers from an Impact weakness that is new to the line, so it doesn't agree with RIPLIB. I hadn't noticed it before! I thoughtthe entire line had that weakness. Well, anyway, the great reason because of which I never risk these...

Re: I've just been learning the value of shamans :)

It'll take a wee while to get used to including shamans, but I'm sold on their value. I can now see clearly (and more importantly, *believe*) that their ability to slow and to heal is *very* useful! ( I could have used a few of them when tackling "The Lost General". Arrgh.... :). Next time there, I...

Re: RE: Default Units?

I found a ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth/data/campaigns/someCampaign/units directory, but this appears to have only units which differ from the default ones, and I can't seem to find the default ones. The default ones are in ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth/data/units or at least, that is what I think....

On Windows, I always know that the action button is second from the right (usually says OK) and there are only a few cases when they get reversed. I'm used to Windows' standard dialog layout too. In Linux I feel more comfortable with KDE applications than with GTK1/GTK2/GNOME ones because of this r...

You've got to install the development SDL packages too. They've almost the same name as runtime SDL packages. For example:  SDL-1.2.rpm -> SDL-1.2-devel.rpm  SDL-mixer-1.2.6 -> SDL-1.2.6-devel.rpm And so on. Don't worry about their sizes, they usually contain only a few small C header ...
