In my opinion, impassable mountains just look like regular mountains with some clouds and fog. These are not bad, the problem is they use the same base images of the regular mountains (plus clouds and fog). That's why, (at least for me) they don't look like special/impassable terrain. Would a Troll King have a crown? I doubt they'd be able to make it, and if they got it from the Dwarves during a war, I doubt they'd know what it was. :P Let's just suppose Trolls aren't stupid enough so they can distinguish the difference between a golden crown and a rock.
