I've thought of variations on the theme before. Some situations make me wonder about having a unit that lives in the keep or has to be hauled tediously to another one, and why is it even a unit at all. And also happens to be the team "flag". And how only one spawn can be used at a time, and castles ...

Can I play?I felt like having a tinker with this. Some notes: I don't know how critical black outlines are to the current look, so I compromised. Moved the hands closer together, which also changed the blade:handle ratio. Made unnecessary alterations for no good reason. I think the leather gloves mi...

I'm all for increased granularity and integer values; the more one can recall and manipulate rule data mentally, without recourse to the manual or a calculator or prepared tables, the better. Keeping move points within the single digit range is nice, and sets the minimum relative coarseness of integ...

The key, of course, is that the expected damage is not the only element of interest. CTH is different than adding points to damage in that the desirability for it differs. I concur. Its tactical profile and strategic utility would be very different. 'Corner cases' seem to me like just the sort of v...

Reckless might not work out to be distinctive enough. Its broad effect would be to increase expected damage inflicted, like strength, which it acheives via CTH instead of base damage. There are differences of course - a CTH boost is pretty special, after all. I just wonder whether the common ground ...

I notice that reckless would not become proportionally less 'enhancing' as a unit advances, whereas the other traits appear to.

I don't know for sure whether this is so, it just seems like something that would have to be considered.

After a few searches I found a previous thread on this matter. ... well, sort of. Not really on the same track so I won't revive it. I should probably clarify some things, though. There is no need to convince me that random is a viable rule, as I can see pros and cons for either. I merely present a ...

Thanks for your support and encouragement, it is appreciated, but please notice that I voluntarily withdrew any part of my suggestion in conflict with decisions already reached. Some of the arguments you present touch on my reasoning behind the idea, but I do not intend to argue the case for somethi...

I assume you mean MP. I didn't even realise it was random. As that question has already been decided, ignore the first two parts. The idea behind point 3 is that it should be the same for MP,(mainline) campaigns, and Single vs. AI. That is, a rule rather than a question of lag, bandwidth, and curren...

Passive Unit Advancement

Not a big idea, more a matter of making things explicit and unambiguous. By "passive" advancement I mean reaching advancement XP outside of the player's turn, i.e. when defending rather than attacking. Here goes: 1. Any unit with an advancement has exactly one default advancement. 2. The default adv...
