Re: Wesnoth 1.7.0
Changelog says * In TROW, the Lady Jessica is now the Lady Jessene. This was the last major character in mainline (and probably the last named unit of any kind) to have an earth-human name. how long will this assumption stay valid? if i had a kid i'd be tempted to use a Wesnoth name :D great work on...

Re: Wesnoth 1.5.9
thanks!
i'm curious why the md5sum isnt posted right here instead of or in addition to downloadable. seems like a lot of extra clicks for user and network load on the system.

Re: Wesnoth 1.5.5
The changelog says * Added the traits weak, slow and dim and made the goblin race use them. but doesnt this go against the prohibition in FPI about complicating things Adding any traits or unit abilities that are complicated or unbalancing since we already have the opposite of those traits: Strong, ...

Re: Now Accepting Donations
my donation went in under another name, but i am not looking for any reward beyond the joy of having contributed toward this amazing and beautiful collaborative work of art and entertainment. secondly, i feel that ranking donations is disrespectful to those with less wealth, but perhaps that is an O...

Re: Can not download the game or connect to server in China
People in repressive computing environments (e.g. China, students) can use anonymizing proxies both to get around filters/firewalls to blocked sites and to prevent The Authorities from seeing what they are up to. For more information, check out the Tor project . If you are unable to get to that site...

Re: Please contribute money to a new server infrastructure
I'm not convinced that having the game server(s), website, wiki, forums, etc all on the same box is a good idea. One example: the multiplayer server gets bogged down with some error message, so people flood the forums looking for info, thereboy doubly DoS-ing the box so admins can't even fix stuff. ...

Maybe the amount of gold carryover can be adjusted based on the campaign challenge level. For example to ensure that Hard (a level the player chose, after all) is actually challenging to play, you could set all scenarios starting gold to minimum. Alternatively, improve the enemies commensurate with ...

The Liberty campaign is listed as mainline in the docs and is distributed with version 1.3.8. I've played it through and it works well, but noticed a couple of minor glitches: - the saurian leader not recruiting problem still seems to be there - Baldras and Harper don't have the leadership trait in ...

it is quite ingenious how the campaign goes through mostly the same sequence of scenarios no matter which choices you make. it would be nice if there was a way in one of the later scenarios to repay the dwarves for their help in The Escape Tunnel. Xenophobia does not seem to have any ties to events ...

Re: Scenario Review - EI: The Escape Tunnel
normal 1.2.4 1.3.8 5 8 it was cool to meet the dwarves and a relief to get their help in 1.2.4 i usually ended up staying near the entrance and killing off the pursuit and then going east when the trolls were beaten up by the dwarves in 1.3.8 it was trivial to grab the amulet, harass the trolls a b...

1.3.8 normal 6 but 10 if i wanted to escape with any decent units at first i went straight southwest with Gweddry and ran right into the troll warrior encampment. then i realized we were supposed to find another way to the southwest corner. wasnt sure if it is worth using the imprisoned soldiers - ...

I always did this scenario by recalling two knights and recruiting about 8 horseman, and storming the island on turn 3 before the orcs get far. They take out the leader and heavy fighters that turn. Then i bring in archers and thieves to finish off the stragglers during the night. Konrad, in the kee...
