Re: Khalifate Era

In fact, Drakes were not around since the beginning. Yeah, i know factions were added gradually and Drakes weren't there since the *very* very beginning. But 1.0 seemed like beginning enough for the sake of the argument. And I personally remember them since 1.2 :geek: Sorry alpha1, I think I misrea...

Re: Khalifate Era

Also, it might be easier to wait until there actually is a Khalifate campaign and then rename it. I would like to point out that there is still no mainline drakes campaign. The faction that has been around since the very beginning. We can wait years or decades until somebody comes around to create ...

Re: Khalifate Era

And this is why changing the name to Sultanate would be perfect. It would still evoke the Turko-Arab feel of the faction, but without evoking the negative connotations of Khalifate. It wouldn't involve any concession to rude complainers, but it would address the legitimate concerns of other users. ...

Re: Khalifate Era

Wintermute Guilty by association? I hope not. But is it worth constantly having these threads pointing it out and rehashing it? Well... that is hard to answer. It reminds me of the Washington Redskins debate. At some point it might be a good idea to just change the name. Nailed it. :D It's hard to ...

Re: Khalifate Era

It seems basically impossible to me that Noy, Wintermute, and co. were ignorant of this. So I'll say again, although of course they may do as they please, if they didn't change their minds before, it's hard to see why they would now . Even if ISIL got their 15 minutes on the nightly news. It's not ...

Re: disscusion about 1.12 mushroom terrain

Yes, revert it please. I think we have enough hurdles already for UMC folks transitioning to 1.12 without this.

Re: disscusion about 1.12 mushroom terrain

In part, this is my fault. I was asked on IRC if this would be a problem, and I think I said something like "I'm sure it will but it's fine with me because it is for the greater good". I have long hated the mushroom groves and how they are thrown around on maps for awkward reasons. I feel strongly t...

Re: First Cataract - 4p Map Contest Entry

It's an interesting concept. I like the idea and I think it merits some testing. One problem leaps out at me: P1 can put a 6 move unit in the SE village before anyone else can reach it with primary units, meaning P2 needs to put a scout there if he wants to be sure to take it... and putting a scout ...

Re: Engine Bug - undo until last shroud update

I am really confused by your question, so maybe I am misunderstanding it, I just read it 4 times and I'm still not sure. But I think no: If the move updated any fog or shroud then you can't undo it. Is that happening for you? If so what version of the game are you playing, do you have delayed update...

Re: [engine/mainline?] Change steadfast

It's up to the MP folks to decide whether the small changes to damage intake are a concern in any given matchup or not, but personally I think that if the ability could be simplified to "+20% resistance on defense" then it's certainly worth considering. It's not like the current ability is conceptu...

Re: My thoughts on the games balance

Did you try swapping places with your friend and spamming ghosts against him (or her)? See if they can counter it! One time, when I was new to this game I thought drakes were totally overpowered. So I tired playing them a few times against experienced players and they trounced me. Then I started to ...

Re: Steam Greenlight #2

I can see pros and cons to this. I'd like to throw out some scattered thoughts, my apologies I don't have time organize them better just now. If steam is a go, then is there anywhere we wouldn't want to distribute? Do we hit up GoG? Others? Do say yes to some and no to others or do we conquer them a...

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 4player Map Contest and Overhaul!

That feedback is good Horus2. We do need more people who have opinions about this posting them here. People are going to play and use whatever comes with the game to some extent. People play Age of Heroes too, bless them. What is most helpful though, is people posting what they like about those maps...

Re: Suggestion: keep backwards compatibility

I think this is a very good idea. I have listened to many a UMC author wring their hands over this issue and I really don't have an answer for them. We can wave hands and talk about "progress" - and sometimes people really are excited to use the new features that get added - but it still doesn't mak...
