Re: US threatening to censor internet
Well yes Joram the people voted them in but do you really think somebody's going to run their campaign on "Hey everybody! Let's censor the internet!" He's probably going to keep that opinion to himself until the time comes to petition for the bill and vote upon it in congress and by that t...

Re: Playstation 2
Dood, you're crazy. Who'd buy a console just to play Halo at this point ? There's a way to run a legal copy on almost any computer made within the last 4 years, which is about the average upgrade cycle. I even saw it at the Apple Store once. Also with 360 controllers being compatible with just about...

Re: where do you rate yourself as a Wesnoth player?
I teeter tottered back 'n forth between the extremities of 5 and 7 when I played regularly. I haven't been around for a while though so I'm probably rusty enough to be 4 solid at the moment, esp. if there've been any balancing changes. Also depends on what you consider experienced though.... This to...

Re: Open-source fiction
Collaborative Roleplaying sessions are fairly close. They're not officially legit to freely distribute but they're usually freely viewed by the general public and typically have the audience being the main contributors. That being said they're also terrible as both games and stories because people t...

I can't make guarantees on the behalf of others, be it amazon, ebay or even brick 'n mortar merchants unfortunately. You'll just have to go by reputation and hope for the best there, which is greatly aided by the feedback system. In the event that you have a problem you'll have to file a dispute wit...

Re: Playstation 2
Fatties are selling on amazon for $43 and should work better than the slimline ones that've had a lot of their hardware cut out, making it so that an actual PS2 might not be fully compatible with the PS2 library. At least so I've heard anyway. The memory card is about five dollars over that. I just ...

Re: USA Gun Ban... You Have to at Least Respect Their Opinio
While I'll admit technologically outgunned, I'll second Velsenek's opinion that it wouldn't be ludicrously one sided in favor of government. In the U.S. which supposedly has one of the world's most powerful military forces there are 2,215,700 military servicemen . It sounds pretty big until you comp...

Re: Bot giving WML advice.
I'd actually go a step further and say that there's very little chance that even a benevolently designed, wholesome bot would be that great of an idea at this moment in time. They most often don't read enough into context to provide definitively relevant information, cannot provide useful informatio...

It's pretty easy to put down the keys on the ground to fight, so if you toss them near a pit, that's your risk to take and your trajectory to figure out. I think if you're worried about people losing the keys unjustly the whole regurgitation upon hitstun thing is probably going to pose the greatest ...

In less than a second, out pops a replacement machine in a protective capsule.
I put in that capsule.

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said anything about 0.999..., my ramblings were an answer to a totally different question. Does he have to? It's a very easy conclusion to infer, since it is inherent to the nature of the given answers answers given that 0 is the only infinitely small value. Oth...

Re: Is 0.9 recurring equal to 1?
I'd submit that such factors are largely unimportant, as for most practical intents and purposes whenever .9~ occurs its so impractically close to 1 that it may as well be rounded up. Even if it was a huge problem, you said it yourself, we cannot simply make wishes of the math and make it so. What y...

Re: Is 0.9 recurring equal to 1?
Okay so numbers are representations. Then I have a question about a concept I want to represent: If we don't have issues of numeric storage to consider, how close can we get to 1 without being 1 on the numeric scale? It would seem to me that the best form of representing such an indefinite concept w...

Re: Is 0.9 recurring equal to 1?
I don't follow you. You are in essence saying that the only way 0.3333(rec) could equal one third is if it ends? That is not true. 0.333(rec) can equal one third. In fact, it does equal one third. The reason that it does so is because it is infinite. If it was ever finite, then it would not. Why wo...

Re: Is 0.9 recurring equal to 1?
Why can't calculus be inaccurate? Are there no margins of error in its applications? Also, can you extrapolate upon how something can be equal and unequal at the same time? Also just to better demonstrate my thoughts on recombination: 1+1=2 .9+.9=1.8 .99+.99 = 1.98 .999+999=1.998 .9...+.9... = 1.9.....
