Re: Some battle type piece

Very cool. I like the way you stay geared into the idea. Very classically oriented with the usage of lots of leading tones. Good job. It would really cool if you could expand the piece by adding a slower section to break things up and then going back into the original idea into a stunning climax. Ju...

Re: Isle of Alduin - My first try

42, I listened to your piece. It sounds like you don't really know where you are off to. There is a nice dreamy quality to your music but this is kind of borderline schizo, atm. There is a lack of direction. I think it would benefit you and your music to conceptualize a direction through an instrume...

Re: Dark Passage

Right now, all I hear is how cheap and amateurish my tunes sound, and that is not the best mental state for music making. Well, if it makes you feel any better, your orchestral stuff sounds a lot more convincing than mine. :augh: I really can't say much to help you out as I am also in a very very h...

Re: It's been a while...

The percussion sounds great. Very robust and yet easy to listen to. I got a feeling of a calm before the storm as I was listening to this. What I didn't get was the actual storm. No HUGE bursts of power from the orchestra. No real violence, though there was good buildup in tension via percussion. If...

Re: Battle theme

Sooo yea.. Can a few fellas give me the word on whether these pieces are in shape to be used for certain parts of the game storyline, battle, character theme... whatever... Alright here's the new version. http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/rain/WesnothBattle2009.mp3 BATTLE It's close to being commi...

Re: A first attempt

Indeed your instruments sound a lot sharper. Good work with the new samples. The only crit I hear is that all the instruments sound as if they are playing in different rooms. They should all take up their own sense of space, yes. But what I am missing in this piece is the feeling that the instrument...

Re: One of the ideas to create music for beginner

Hmmm.

Making orchestral music is unfortunately far more complicated than indicating the whereabouts of simple chord changes and the over generalized advice you are providing. I am sure you mean well with these comments but they aren't going to necessarily lead to more productive music for wesnoth.

Re: New here

Hi there. It's difficult to find specific pieces that need to be made so we just kind of tend to wing it around here. There is no guarantee that the music that we write for a specific purpose won't fulfill other musical obligations for the game as well. It's pretty safe to say we are always on the l...

Re: Battle theme

I like this piece of music. It is quite dissonant and modern sounding at some partis, but I think it is appropiate for the game anyway because of the rythm and atmosphere it creates. Cool. The sample library you used seems to be a good one, but I think the sounds are a bit distorted. They sound a b...

Re: Battle theme

Alright here's the new version. http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/rain/WesnothBattle2009.mp3 It's close to being committable. Not sure where it would be used but we can include it for use with scenario work if we want or battles. I'm also going to go ahead and post brushups of some of the other ma...

Re: Battle theme

Thanks Turuk. I've done a bit more additional sound work on shaping the piece up. I haven't gotten around to posting the new version but I'll do so soon. I'll also include a few others pieces I've been mastering. Akkarin... there are many instruments playing at the part you mentioned. Can you be a b...

Re: RAIN SAYS TO COMMIT THIS

Argh, never mind, there's a complete embarrassing misunderstanding on my part. I thought this piece was the one that doofus-01 had worked on before. Completely slipped that this was Rain's despite already reading it. Shows how you can still pretty much mess up with even the best of preparations (re...

Re: Battle theme

hehe. Yea, the piece could be a bit too contemporary stylistically in a few spots, though the piece is similar to Knalgan theme in that it resolves from dissonance into consonance. I am happy you like the knalgan theme. I was trying to make an intense piece. Now that I listen to this with a bit more...
