Re: Non-Wesnoth works

Surfing w/ the alien is my favorite satriani album. I can associate the lyrical melodic stylings of the solo guitar of that album with what you're doing here. Nothing to be bashful of. The tunes are awesome. ;)

Btw, I ADORE that synth you use. Totally progressive rock.

Re: Idea: Tunes for "events"

Per level? No way that's going to happen unless we can alter the sounds of the effect using programming to rise or fall dependent upon level. That would merely convolute things when a simpler approach would probably be just as effective, for this at least. I don't even really see a need for that typ...

Re: Idea: Tunes for "events"

Yup. I don't really believe Level UP sounds would get monotonous, b/c it doesn't happen every few seconds during the course of a game.

I also believe it could be a good idea, given that the sound effect or the music cue works well

Definitely man. I think I will consider this when re arranging the piece a bit.

Re: New Theme

Yea dude, totally. The beginning part isn't intended to be a nice smooth ride through the park. :) I intended for it to sound that way. If you look at other pieces of similar type (ie Webern), you'll notice that it's not really clashing as much as being grating harmonically. It's supposed to sound t...

Re: Non-Wesnoth works

Haha, that's groovy West. Nice job with development. There is something very Joe Satriani about the demeanor of the piece.

Re: New Theme

Hmm, I think that the dissonance was so heavy, that it all just sounded similar in that all of what I heard started to go together. I wish I could use proper terms... Yea, I see what you might mean. I've thought that way about dissonant music at one point- that it all kind of sounds the same. I thi...

Re: New Theme

This is, as always in my music posts, an uninformed opinion, but I like your piece, at least from after the first minute or so. Thanks. The dissonance is pretty heavy, no? That first minute just all seems to sound similar to me Similar to what? and would do well as a tension building piece, but it ...

New Theme

New Theme. I've been really busy of late, but I wanted to find a bit of time of late to try to write a piece for wesnoth. I originally had this in my mind as a battle piece. I think the piece has enough intensity w/ the chromatic harmonies, but I'd like a few outside opinions on the piece before I d...

Re: Randomize title music after introductory theme?

Hey guys.

Working on something! It's a new theme.

Should be posting it soon.

Btw, it'd be impossible to reach a consensus on which theme is the most pliable for development.

Re: Aleksi's Battle music for piano

I really like this arrangement! While the piece sounds very Russian, I didn't quite hear the Shostakovich at any given point, but no matter! I am not familiar with enough of his piano works to really chime in here. What piano sampler are you using? The piano sounds good. Very musical. You are doing ...

Re: Some battle type piece

Well damn if that doesn't sound 10 times better than your first mix, which was already good to begin with. Your sound has become far more professional. Good work! As far as a slow section goes, I'd really be interested to hear more. Only crit is that the piece is pretty short for a battle piece. Sho...

Re: Some battle type piece

I know you work in a cruise ship. You've mentioned it before. :) Is that cool? Anyways, It's really not even necessary to play at full volume when doing a mix down. To be honest, I've been getting quieter and quieter during the mixing process. I do this b/c I have a problem with losing head room ver...
