with new armor looks like one ball loosely resting on anothe

Is there anything you can add to fill in that gap between the head and the shoulder, so the head feels more connected to the body? The figure has lost some of his stoutness.

Re: Terrain tiling [Dirt for a change]

Err... that's not much of a change.

I do. His feet aren't that far outside the hex - it remains obvious which one he belongs to. Covering doesn't bother me either, what with the rarity of the unit.

Re: fire dragon redo

Damn, I forgot about this guy but he's really good. I like his cragginess and colors.

Re: Draugnatomy - portrait attempt

That would contradict the note we have repeatedly made about how strictly following the sprite isn't necessary, wouldn't it?

E: Eh, it's kind of a murky rule anyways.

Re: Dragon sprite

I really like the large one you made. If you are worried about size issues, you could use the current one as a walking animation and have the dragon rear up on his hind legs for an idle pose, making him seem even larger and more intimidating.

Re: Draugnatomy - portrait attempt

Indeed the helmet was a bit big and the axe now rests on his shoulder. Here's my inked version (gosh a tablet would be useful for this), along with pencil in case anyone wants to ink it for me... http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/9158/draugdinkedrc7.png Truly, that looks terrific. Or as my friend ...

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series

Vendanna: remember that the forum software messes up the colours. You need to click to see the real thing. Must be something wrong with me - for most of the portraits I've seen on the forums, I prefer the 'messed up' versions that have greater contrast and perhaps less saturation. The saurians, the...

Re: Terrain tiling [Dirt for a change]

I'd imagine the reason dirt/grass doesn't look good next to water is that while most terrain and all units are at three-quarters angle, it is still stuck in the top-down view, so it looks very flat. I tried messing with transitions in the past with the cave water but they really are hard for me to u...

Re: Mermaid initiate portrait

The water reflections are an interesting idea. I thought they meant the skin was wet, at first.

Re: Draugnatomy - portrait attempt

Much better pose. Would look good with the axehead resting over his shoulder, he reminds me of the Deadites standing at attention from Army of Darkness. (You know, the part where it plays this song.)

Helmet...?

Re: Draugnatomy - portrait attempt

I am doing something wrong. :( Yes I am, what though? http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1645/armortestbcw8.png Head down and squatting. The overall pose is strange but not menacing or powerful. This feels similar to what the undead creature would look like before his Animation - he is still 'aslee...

Re: Mermaid initiate portrait

Jewelry is another method very appropriate for mermaids... I forgot to include it. Tattoos may also be an alternative.

Almost excessive amounts - similar to indian bridal jewelry - could be suitable for the higher level units.

Re: Mermaid initiate portrait

Clothing is ridiculous on this type of creature. There are better methods of censoring, already posted no less:

Seaweed/Kelp
Water/Mist
No Nipples
Jewelry
Tattoos
Hair

Re: Draugnatomy - portrait attempt

He's in a weak pose, bow-legged and hunched over using the axe as support like an old man on a cane. The Draug should have a powerful one.
