Multiplayer is the only way to improve yourself.
You know the basis? Yes.
You tried some campaign and/or some mp with AI? Yes.
Then you can (must?) go to multiplayer.
Wesnoth is much funnier on MP then single player.

About graphic, i don't care too much, but i love the "old pixel school", i litteraly in love with the graphic of Civilitazion 1.
So i'm not a reliable test!

The big problem for FreeCiv, as someone said, is the stability.
But i cannot compare wesnoth or FreeCiv, they are 2 games too much differents.

I got only old school memories about C++ (i've to get it again ), but i don't remember any "std::"
Try to remove it.

And for linux, what compiler you have?
i suggest you to get Eclipse and then follow the istruction for work it out with c++ too

Against elves you need a little luck with taking out the first unit on a village (probably a fighter), but 3 hits will solve that problem at night. I disagree that 6 grunts at night would beat the knlagans, assuming the person playing them is playing right. The dwarves on hills and mountains would be chalaging to attack with grunts that seems like an engagment doomed to failure, and the outlaws at night will pack a punch back at you. The olny ...
