It throws magical bolts at your enemies. They got a 70% probability so thats a huge advantage in fighting (especially sea fighting). It can kill a naga in one turn. If you play in easy, you don't need it that much. But if you play on hard level, it helps you a lot to win the sea battle and finish t...

Re: Gauntlet Images

I have worked on the development of a remake of the original Guantlet game (overhead hack and slash rpg) for a class I was in. My group is looking to release the game under the GPL, but we need images that someone is willing to release under the GPL for it. I really don't expect to get much since e...

Re: Keymap inconsistency in Windows

I use a dvorak keyboard layout. In Win98SE, I have two languages set up English (Australian) - Dvorak & English (British) US104. In Wesnoth, the hotkeys are assigned to QWERTY layout, but when I'm naming a saved game, the Dvorak key layout applies. Very odd... Yes, I too use a Dvorak keyboard. ...

Can I request that the campaign be fully pollished in terms of editing of English (and translated) dialague? I know its somewhat petty, but it distracts me from the otherwise fantastic work the campaign creators do.

Yeah - it's not a bad idea, but units in Wesnoth are already easy enough to kill. Units which are surrounded can often be killed from full health in a single turn, which borders on being a bad gameplay element (we're walking the tightrope between "too easy to kill" and "too hard to k...

I find the best way to learn any programming language or computer tool is to begin to do bug fixes for somebody. You can start with something simple and build up to something more complex and along the way you can learn the tools while actually doing something productive. I'm sure there's open sourc...

(Maybe this has already been proposed above, I wish I had more time to read the whole thread...) Some fantasy races are defined by their engineering prowess (Dwarves for example). I think it would be ok to have an ability that gave adjacent units a 10% non cumulative defense bonus up to some limit (...

Def Muff Malal. Isle of the Damned is an interesting challenge though. I've never been able to beat it, but gotten close. Lots depends on whether you get the white mage or the revenants from the temples on IotD. Its hard to get a lot of troops over there to deal with the chance of revenants while de...

It not knowing about shrouded/fogged hexes is the most important to me, because it would really help a lot with certain scenarios I'm designing/have designed. Knowing about more abilities is a close second. This would be a serious advance in AI. I can't think of any games with "fog of war"...

An RTS's for the TBS lover: Sid Meier's Gettysburg. This game is very tactical, intelligent, and a lot of fun.

Also Europa Universalis (another RTS) is a fun, if cumbersome and buggy, game.
