Re: [URGENT] Someone is selling your GAME on eBay

I'm not proposing to defend this particular incompetent, but there is a genuine demand for the kind of service this guy is doing so badly, and you can earn money from it with a clear conscience if you do it well. To do so, you need to provide the compiled game for whatever platforms you're serving a...

Re: Exercises in Formula and Lua AI

Simons: I looked into the guardian AI you mentioned and programming that is not a problem at all, but I do have a couple conceptual questions. Behaviour would be, if anything moves close enough to guarding_x,guarding_y, attack it. If there's nothing close enough to attack, go back to stationed_at_x...

Re: Exercises in Formula and Lua AI

Can I make some reasonably simple requests: First, a guardian-like AI that returns to its post after attacking rather than allowing itself to be lured further and further away. I'm proposing something that could be called with {GUARDIAN stationed_at_x, stationed_at_y, guarding_x, guarding_y} Behavio...

Re: How to [store_unit], kill, [unstore_unit] with fade out/

Darn, I was hoping there was a lazy way. Thanks. But one other question: what exactly is the 'highlight'=1~0:600 tag? I've tried it (in several combinations) and it seems to do nothing. It's referred to twice on that Wiki page, but it's not listed or explained in any of the syntax summaries. Edit: A...

How to [store_unit], kill, [unstore_unit] with fade out/in?

I'm using store_unit with kill=yes and a delay to make a unit briefly disappear then reappear after about 0.7 seconds with some changes. Works fine, but the unit disappears and reappears abruptly. Is there a neat way to fade a unit in and out at about recruitment speed? For the fadeout I can't use k...

RANDOM .. range bug?

I wanted to create some unique object ids. My approach was to define a macro called UNIQUE as follows #define UNIQUE VAR {RANDOM 100000..999999} {VARIABLE {VAR} $random|} #enddef Then call it with code such as {UNIQUE unique1} {RANDOM red, lightred, darkred, blue} [object] id=$random|_object_$unique1| ...

Re: Rogue Mage/Shadow Mage/Shadow Lord

Wesnoth has a need for a generic failed/expelled/non-approved mage type. There are times in quite a few campaigns where the king might decide to outlaw the mage's guild, or a splinter group of dissident mages splits off to make their own faction, or when a magically-talented individual is self-taugh...

Re: Wesnoth lore, idioms and phrases braindump

Yes, the general target writing tone for Wesnoth is Tolkein level. That is, our orcs should be as foul-mouthed and unpleasant as his are, without actually needing to resort to anything that requires censorship. I'm certainly not intending to produce anything that would have to be toned down before i...

Re: Wesnoth 1.9.10 aka 1.10-beta1

@Unwise, Yes, the Mac download link is currently broken. If you click in the Wesnoth directory on the SourceForge page you get when the download fails, the file is there, but it's named Wesnoth 1.9... with a capital W and a space in the filename.

Re: Wesnoth lore, idioms and phrases braindump

@Pew That one's a threat, not a derogatory term. It seems dwarves are actually quite hard for orcs to insult properly. 'Clang-clangs' sounds a bit childish to me, but I think 'clankers' might be ok. 'Clangers' is out; these are Clangers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HArUmqqiL0s Terms like 'half-pi...

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising

I thought it was supposed to be an armadillo- sheep . In particular, a ram. And that might be why it looks odd: sheep have pretty thick coats, hence their legs appear much more central, as you've drawn here. But if that sheep has a carapace instead of its wool, the legs should be much closer to the ...

Re: I need help

Yes, but to be honest I don't find the {MENU_IMG_TXT ...} and {MENU_IMG_TXT2 ...} macros to be all that much clearer than just providing the raw difficulty strings. I like to have neat columns of text (well,, as neat as possible) that you can scan down by eye, and if there's a 'bump' in the formatti...

Re: Wesnoth lore, idioms and phrases braindump

Alternatives to the orc taunt: "The ground will run red" "We will bathe in your blood" "Your skulls will make fine trophies" "'Bathe in our blood?' - What, you too feeble to bathe in cold water? Awww!!" But while I'm here, can anyone suggest a good orcish derogatory term to use for dwarves? My plac...

Re: I need help

On the subject of difficulty ratings, you might find something like the following setup clearer and easier to follow: #define EASY_IMAGE "&units/elves-wood/elvish-fighter.png~TC(1,magenta)"+ #enddef #define NORMAL_IMAGE ";*&units/elves-wood/elvish-hero.png~TC(1,magenta)"+ #enddef #define HARD_IMAGE ...

Re: I need help

Oh, you're looking inside Wesnoth.app itself. That's the main game, and there is lots of useful example code in there, but you need to refer to ~/Library/Application Support/Wesnoth_1.8/data/add-ons to find the content you've downloaded. The '1.8' may vary - if you're using a dev version it'll be '1...
