Re: Non-Wesnoth works
Thanks Aleksi/PPH. PPH, this is only an excerpt, it fades out at the end, but the submitted track for the contest could only be 2 minutes in length. I would have LOVED to extend this piece, and maybe I will, but unfortunately they have guidelines for submissions. EDIT: Aleksi you're right about the...

Re: Non-Wesnoth works
Tyler, this music is GREAT! I love the mood! You've really progressed... i'm impressed! I hope you get the contest! Unfortunately, the jury is very Hollywood oriented, alias HANS ZIMMER [censored]... but, who knows?

Re: Non-Wesnoth works
Very Dream Theater-like for the rythmical parts. And a mix of Satriani and Michael Romeo for the solo parts. Nice guitar playing West!

Re: Randomize title music after introductory theme?
I am actually working on a new main theme... It will be approximately 2:30 minutes...
But, does not contain any theme from the game. Would be a bit long to do. But, if someone is up the task, it could be nice!

Re: Making music with free samples
It's funny how you outgrow your samples after some time. I remember when I first joined the Wesnoth community and you were raving about how great EWQL was. And now, less than three years later, you say you're done with EWQL. It's a weird situation really, and I've expericenced the same thing myself...

Re: Making music with free samples
I have the EWQL Piano's, and it is the best sample edition EW has done so far. But it is heavy for the computer (need 4gigs of ram though if you want to the maximum piano setting). I only installed the Bösendorfer until now, which is 80gigs on HD space... :D But, i'm not satisfied at all with the PL...

Re: Aleksi's Battle music for piano
While the piece sounds very Russian, I didn't quite hear the Shostakovich at any given point, but no matter! Only the first minute is close to Shostakovitch. Listen to his first Symphony and you'll find rhythmical and harmonic similarities. But, of course, what i did is certainly not as good as wha...

Huh? Me?! Errr, you sure? I don't recall this name...West wrote:No, I assume he means Transience, one of Aleksi's old mainline tunes.
Let me check in the games directory...
EDIT: Oh, yeah, it was the old Main Menu music... I'll check the midi file later on and post it.

Re: Aleksi's Battle music for piano
Aleksi, I know you're probably sick of this song and I know your music has evolved quite a bit and are writing music far superior to this one, but still I love this track, and it was a fun little project to do. Great job Tyler! The first minute was very Shostakovich inspired, and the pian...

Re: Journey's End
It's just that I wanted the opening to convey both a tranquil, soft feel as well as an underlying darkness. Like, you know, the journey is nearing its end, but bad things have happened. Maybe friends have fallen along the way, and everything's changed. It might be a bit too overpowering though. I'l...
