Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)

I still find it impossible to use against a good drake player. :( Against other races, provided I'm not knalgans, works fine. I have no replay I want to post right now. (you can find some in the 1v1 replay archive thread, though.)

Re: Bug? report for trunk

Okay it's been a couple of months... but I'm really curious. Why are warnings allowed into the Wesnoth source code? In uni we're taught to try to eliminate as many warnings as possible, yet that doesn't seem to be what you guys are doing with Wesnoth.

There's got to be someone with a mac in the university!
This looks good so I'll wait for a mac binary.

Re: iPhone port started!

I'll be inclined to think wesnoth-on-iPhone players will form enough of a player-base to deserve a server for themselves. That way iphone versions won't have to be maintained. ;) Of course that reduces total playing time as eventually new user made content become incompatible...

Re: No more "unknown unit" in multiplayer, please.

It really depends on the game. I used to have these N64 racing games (X-Zone?? can't remember)... They hid vehicles I could potentially use later when I win some races. At first my vehicles were crap. It wasn't easy to win races, and when I did get new vehicles I got were only marginally better; but...

Re: iPhone port started!

I've got a iPod Touch 16gb. It's applications only fill up a couple of hundred megabytes, so I don't think file size matters that much.. Just wondering, how much are you going to charge at the iTunes store, if at all? I'd prefer it to be free... But if you charge at $0.99 you could probably get away...

Re: Free war / strategy board games

Everything's an individual preference. However, I believe certain activities are objectively better than others. If you want to peck a memo out on a typewriter, or walk when you could bike … I guess I'm just gonna shake my head in bewilderment. Have fun with that. Hey... I can't paint my own units ...

Re: Why Thunderers are Broken in Colosseum

steadfast is also pretty useless; In most cases you have to buy extra resistances for it to work; and the resistances are too expensive too; The only time resists are useful is when you have a ghost; but when you have a ghost you arent allowed to buy any... Regeneration is also not worth it, conside...

Re: 1v1 Replays! (THE ARCHIVE)

Here's one where I was drakes and my opponent is undead. I miscalculated my first attack attempt.... (didn't take into possible submerged units in water), and was severely disadvantaged. I got away as my opponent was trying to regroup. The next night I was overwhelmed when he attacked on all sides a...

Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)

I've tried recruiting more fast units after reading this thread, and the speed does provide alot more flexibility so I can quickly overwhelm a position and then pullback. I haven't tried this against really good players yet, though. When my opponents manage to form a single front quickly and attack ...

Re: Luck In Wesnoth

I watched my own replay, and luck wasn't the cause Though you're horsemen were incredibly accurate, that does not detract from how badly I played. My main mistake was not retreating at turn 14, which allowed your horse army to charge down my disorganized attack. I also had no fallback plans in case...
