Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
I just wanted to say that art looks fantastic.
I was very fond of grp21's (?) simple portraits back in the day, but these look great. (Actually, he could do some really fantastic stuff-- he CCed me on some of his other stuff.) But, from and old Wesnoth guy, good show.

That's a really nice guide
That's a really nice guide. It gives a really good high level view of how to create a campaign, as opposed to a low level 'nuts and bolts' view. I though many of the same things myself, it's nice that this was written out in one place.

Re: 48 Turns of avoidance...
I have just completed sjm's Feat, and was very pissed off at the end of 48 turns to lose the scenario. Maybe I should read the walkthroughs in advance next time! Well, How many turns should you wait before attacking? L If this is in relation to: A New Land This scenario is one step above 'Cu...

I did save the 3 HI in the previous scenaria, but did not kill any of the orc leaders. Basically the strategy in harrowing escape was: advance with restraint, take the villages before the abandoned fort, fight there with all your force while the orcs arrive in waves. That's one of the main themes i...

Re: Hey, what about random?
I can remember them in 0.8.x when they were neutral and could slaughter againt 2:1 odds of any faction except merfolk over water. Actually, at the time I was fooling with them, and Sirp (the Dave) had the idea to make them lawful. One could argue that the change to lawful was a 'buff' given their m...

On the topic though, I have never had major problem because for the most part I veiw lvled combat units as being expenable the olny ones I will restart to save are, healers, leaders, mages, unreplaceable units such as the iron maulers in TRoW. If I lose enough lvled combat units (depending on lengn...

Hi,
Hi, I just washed back up in the forums a little while ago. Hey, I started playing again :) I just wanted to say that if anybody wanted to take over maintenance of TRoW I'd: 1) Like it. I'm still fond it and would rather not see it bitrot or go away. That being said I haven't touched WML in a very l...

I don't know where you read this but spamming burnerns is about the worst thing to do against mass spearman. 4 Burners + and Auger can take 7ish Spearmen if they get to 'jump in'. (Well, with good gamblers odds anyway.) Ignoring the broader axiom of Drake heavy hitting mobile warfare what units wou...

I'll wade in on this.
I'll wade in on this. Historically, what I've done is: -Test the WML w/ developer features and make sure the scenario works. Then I did 2 'quick' plays on normal. At the end of that, I recorded: *Number of turns left *Amount of gold gained *Cumulative amount of gold (I also kept an eye on how easy i...

The Only
The only scenario that is really problimatic for the drakes is massed Loyalist Spearmen. That being said, imagine this scenario (I've tested this on small 2p maps in an armchair sort of way): Loyalist recruits Seven Spearman Drakes recruit 4 Burners and an Auger This eats the 100 GP that both sides ...

Mass anything is a poor strategy. i appreciate you trying to help, but i find this really funny because when i played you, you massed dark adepts vs my drakes :P in fact its the thing that made me think u weren't very good The simple counter to adepts is fighters in Daylight: Adept: HP: 28 Cost: 16...

attacking an elven archer with a clasher during the day is obvious, the problem is good elvish players most of the time dont have too many archers in range of clashers during the day. the archer is much faster than a clasher with the ability to move through forest for only 1 MP while the clasher ha...
