Re: Notability guidelines

Or you can start on a collective page and then move the content to a dedicated page if it gets longer. This way, you won't need a redirect. The redirects can serve their own purpose for navigation. For example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitalstatistix links to the " List of Asterix characters "...

Re: Notability guidelines

Shouldn't be a problem. The articles can be written and then swapped out for redirects as soon as it is clear they are just a single paragraph long.

Re: Notability guidelines

@Mawmoocn: I've more or less intuited what level of detail seems ideal so far. You may find Haldric I or The Rise of Wesnoth are good places to get some idea of what that level of detail is like at the moment. I'm interested in all material relevant to the character or campaign, but nothing else. Th...

Re: Notability guidelines

Or we could sidestep the question entirely and use a different yardstick: a character is notable if their description on the wiki is longer than one paragraph. Characters that meet this threshold get a page, characters that don't get an entry on the list of dramatis personae. Strangely enough, that...

Re: Notability guidelines

I'd define "speak" as "speech", so they have to say actual words rather than growls or other noises. That sounds doable. The only borderline case I can think of is Rarlg (who may or may not be speaking words), but that is sufficiently exceptional to handle separately. If nobody has objections to th...

Re: Notability guidelines

The last four of those listed do something else than recruit: they speak. Ah, okay. That helps. :) From your perspective, when would a character who speaks not be notable? If I had to think of the least notable speaking character, it would probably be a monster like Chompey , as octalot pointed out...

Re: Notability guidelines

I think that to a certain extent it needs to be accepted that no rule can be created that accounts for every possible situation, so there does need to be some flexibility assumed rather than attempting to nail down every single splinter. Somewhat relatedly, simpler is generally better (KISS and all...

Re: Notability guidelines

At the end of the day, we're all volunteers. I'm here only in the belief that I can improve the wiki, and to the extent that this is contingent upon forum discussions, I will always have to work with a little quasi-bureaucracy. I also acknowledge that, particularly as a relative newcomer to this com...

Re: Notability guidelines

The notability guidelines page doesn't seem to reflect the input in this thread, nor the rule suggested by a Wiki admin in private conversation ("any leader who only exists in a single scenario of a campaign and whose sole function is to recruit units is not notable"). This is true, only because we...

Re: Legend of Wesmere dates

Although these elves were part of Landar's rebels, I don't see anything in those scenarios that says Landar is still alive or sets them before End of War. The rebels surviving End of War were banished to the Forest of Gitamoth (which is either north or north-east of the Heart Mountains), but that's...

Re: Legend of Wesmere dates

Okay. I've compiled the related facts. Now I know why there's a big warning against messing with it. In bold are the facts that can't really be changed. Treaty signed in 1YW (pretty much by definition). AOI takes place from 7YW - 8YW. AOI "Defend the Forest" takes place "some years" after treaty sig...

Re: Notability guidelines

I've started a notability guidelines page. It is work in progress, and it has reduced the number of articles by about 21 pages of those made so far. If you want to change the guidelines, it's probably best to use the talk page, or if that takes too long, feel free to make your own alterations.

Re: Legend of Wesmere dates

It seems that ESR changed it on that timeline here back in 2011. Six years later, Celtic_Minstrel then added that to the _main.cfg file here. It seems ESR hasn't been active in over a year. Does anyone know how we can ask him why he changed it?

Re: Legend of Wesmere dates

I will also add that the SoF scenario "A Bargain is Struck" incorrectly states that he met the elves at Weldyn, when he actually met them at Tath. This should also be fixed.
