Hmm, since only one person commented anyways:
if one(eg. me, probably) would go ahead and fix the shadows, probably one race at a time would they be included ?

Hex under effect of Illumination is already indicated, by hex having light-rays graphic, or halo of neighboring unit with the Illuminates ability, even if halo fx is missing you can look at alignment bonus values displayed on the sidebar to determine which hexes have it, when hovering the mouse curs...

Shadows inconsistency

There is inconsistency with appearance of unit shadows in Wesnoth. Apparently the correct color for unit shadows is #160034 with 60% alpha. However, a lot of the unit sprites are using whatever the artist thought deeming fit to be used as its shadow, most cases those being a bunch of black color pix...
