My thought had been that you are fighting on desert terrain which the desert elves are perfect for, so you have the tactical advantage. This sounds like a bug, but I cannot replicate it. Certainly Zhul's death should cause defeat, but she shouldn't die mid-dialogue. Hey guys, thanks for all the kind comments, I really appreciate them. It's great to see that players are still enjoying UTBS. I pretty busy with real-life work right now, but I'll try to check back here every so often. Thanks also go to the devs for making sure that UTBS stays updated for wesnoth 2....

They look beautiful. Thanks a lot fmunoz! The human commander looked like the human ranger because it's the same artwork. I was using whatever images I could get my hands on, and never had the opportunity to make better artwork. I definitely encourage anyone else who wants to help improve UTBS's art...

This is a bug with the new "random_traits=yes" WML command that I started using in 1.1.5. Secondly I think you're right : the drowning message preceded the graphic change of shallow water into deep water No elf can enter deep water. So any unit in shallow water will drown next turn. The WML code actually changes the terrain from shallow to deep water before any death cries are displayed...
