Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

They all look awesome!
I personally agree about losing the staffs, they would look a little strange on flying/hovering creatures (being originally walking sticks). And no, you're not overdoing it IMHO, it's all very rational.

Re: Wesnoth2 ruleset (or undoing Wesnoth)

chess-type turns (1 turn = movement of 1 unit) Don't forget that a chess player has (at best) 16 units and a terrain of just 64 squares. Wesnoth allows bigger army strengths and terrains, with which the game would probably get tedious, and initial unit placement the key to victory, as you won't get...

Re: ForestDragon's Art

The second one's hands look good (right one ( her right one) is maybe a little small). In the first one the hand is still a little off: Thumb should be a little thicker, and all the fingers a little longer (about a fingernail's length). BTW, the wings of lvl1 look a little too small to me. Not that ...

Definitely better!
Yes, that will do, now it looks like metal.

Re: ForestDragon's Art

(Sorry for the delay but shortly after my post Wesnoth just disappeared from the web for a couple days. Routing SNAFU I guess.) About the helmet: Yes, but I still don't necessarily see it as being metal. Still looks to me like silver hair with a red something on top of the head. I guess it's about ...

Re: ForestDragon's Art

critique about his helmet would be appreciated I'm not sure about the red crest-like thingy, but maybe my eyes aren't what they used to be. At first glance it looked to me like he's not wearing any helmet, like he has silver-white hair and a red sausage on his head!... I think it needs so...

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

They look good, but given (AFAIK) those pictures will also appear cut out over the game screen during dialogue, what will happen to the fog/dust clouds on the middle picture? :?:

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

On the other hand, I think the current trend of Fantasy to get ever more scientific on our-world basis and have less mystery/unsystematic magic in it loses a lot of the potential for wonder and a nebulous elusion to magic or no explanation at all could actually be a good choice. I agree that not gi...

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

Last idea, on a more apocalyptic side: when the third sun collapses, lot of dangerous high-energy radiation are spread and cause genetic mutations at accelerated speed. Most of them would be horrible and most would just die, but in few lucky cases they would favor adaptability to the new conditions...

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

Sorry for being rational, but white-skinned people put in the sun don't turn dark-skinned, at best they tan. Look at the populations of north Africa who have been living on the borders of the Sahara desert (or even inside) for many thousands of (human) years: They are well tanned, but of relatively ...

Re: ForestDragon's Art

The mouth looks a little silly IMHO; A slime would just wrap around its prey and digest it.
Eyes are good though.

For the color, you should add highlights to make it look wet and, well, slimy.

Too regular (and too tall) I think. It's the perfect roundness which gives it the UFO look. Slime would look more like a viscous puddle.

Re: Khalifate "Khalid" unit - did I miss something?

I solved my problem in the meantime; What I was looking for was an exotic-looking high-level visiting hero from far-away lands for my campaign, and the Khalid unit was quite fitting, except for the missing/misleading art. So I ended up making a custom unit by taking the Khalid stats, the Ghazi sprit...

Unit portrait not showing? [Solved]

I made a simple unit (it's not my first) which works as expected, except in dialogues I don't get the picture set under [portrait] , it just shows the unit sprite. I tried using another portrait picture, taken from another unit (which works normally), but no portrait image will show up in th...
