Re: Return from the Abyss [SP campaign for 1.12/1.13]

Thanks for the playing the campaign and for all the feedback and typos/bugs hunting, it was really useful. I'm very glad that you enjoyed it! :) Only thing I’ll complain about is the allies just sit there and do nothing. They don’t attack and they don’t get attacked. But in dialogue with Ahlir the m...

Re: Return from the Abyss [SP campaign for 1.12/1.13]

I am asking about a sequel...are you busy with one or working on a plot for one ??? asking for a friend Haha, tell your friend that I'm indeed working on something else, but it is not a sequel of RftA, although it is loosely connected to it. I'm not sure when it will be ready though because I'm qui...

Re: Return from the Abyss [SP campaign for 1.12/1.13]

Hi Sudipta, thanks for the feedback and for finding the bugs/typos, I fixed them already. Make it so that the scenario ends if u kill the enemy leader with a dwarf alive. Indeed, this was supposed to be a defeat condition (it is now) The Old Castle was the hardest scenario by far. I'd like to see a ...

Re: Request for new add-on

I think he's just asking for this as an add-on, not as a modification of the core game. So the 'only' problem is finding somebody willing to do it (or perhaps it already exists) :)

Re: Italian Dunefolk translation

So I recently fixed the italian translation of Return from the Abyss in 1.14 and had to make some assumptions regarding dunefolk-related words. I don't know if something is going on behind the curtains, in which case I'll really grateful if somebody posts updates here when the translation is finaliz...

When is part 2 coming ???
Hail, emperor. I'm not sure I understand what you mean, the campaign is finished and part 2 and 3 are out since more than a year. Are you asking about a sequel? Or did you simply post the question on the wrong thread?

Re: Removing racism from Wesnoth unit descriptions

I think that comparisons and cross-references to other races in descriptions must remain. They are great for putting the different pieces of Wesnoth's world together and to make it feel consistent. The fact that elves are unmatched in archery is true in the game, so why remove it? And the crucial di...

Re: Return from the Abyss [SP campaign for 1.12/1.13]

Hi keeet. First of all, I really appreciate that you took the time to write such a detailed and thought-out comment, making an UMC campaign can be a hundred hours effort or more and seeing other people discussing the ideas we put forward as authors is the best reward we can get. I'm glad to hear you...

Re: Dunefolk translation

The problem with proper/new names is that they should be somehow related to the lore (like 'Knalgan alliance'), but there isn't an established lore for the dunefolk, except a few fundamental facts. I'd avoid something completely arbitrary. Possible hooks are their geographical location, or their pol...

Re: Dunefolk translation

Aside from copyright issues, I find 'Zensunni' quite uninformative, and it will feel weird also for those who know those books (I personally don't). The whole renaming process was motivated by the wish of making names more understandable than the arabian-sounding versions. What is wrong with the lit...

Re: AI confused by units added to its recall list

Thanks, I'm glad to know that it's fixed. Regarding the second point: I understand why it is considered in a feature in the standard case, but shouldn't the macro {AI_DEACTIVATE_SAVE_GOLD} force the AI to recruit anyway (I don't know if it actually does so now, after the bug fixes) ? If it doesn't I...

Re: Default+Dunefolk era balance

The term "liminal" implies that they do better during twilight, but the actual mechanic means they do worse during non-twilight; these are not equivalent. It means that their "base" stats have the bonus baked in so that, with the penalty, they are reduced to their actual base stats during day and n...

Re: Default+Dunefolk era balance

I personally think that the liminal alignment should stay as is, i.e. a very simple and understandable function of the lawful bonus ( - abs() ). Making it change between TOD with same lawful bonus or implementing it with a different 0-level would just add a layer of opacity. My take on the usage of ...

Re: Default+Dunefolk era balance

Although the Dunefolk have balance issues, I don't think they are bad at the level that an AI test could be useful. Work was done in the past so we are not starting from scratch. The AI does a decent job in looking for vulnerable enemies and high-defense positions, but it's not capable of more advan...
