Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions

First line of the unit description... While Dune Harriers can fulfill a similar role to Striders in hampering enemy forces, their name is actually derived from the harrier hawks they employ to maintain contact with the bulk of a Dunefolk army. You can of course force a reference to the falcon unit w...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions

Sure - you could say something like The choice to counterattack is not an easy one either: Harriers are considerably skilled in wielding their spears, and even their hawks can strike unsuspecting foes when hard-pressed. My main concern is to get away from the "extra attack" wording. If you want to a...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions

This was already removed in commit 4bbfe77445f on my request (following Tom's remark). Even if the line doesn't need to be removed, I still thinks it's the better course of action simply because the wording already sounds weird and on top of it wrongfully makes it sound like there is a game-play ele...

Re: Sigurd's WML Syntax Highlighting for Notepad++

Thanks a ton, Sigurd!

Discovering this made my life so much easier - I was thinking about postponing all other Wesnoth stuff just to write my own version, when I came across this thread! :-)

I fiddled a little with the colors to adapt it to dark mode, but that was the easy part.

Re: What mainline campaigns are high quality?

Alright, voted now. TRoW, SotA - voted on good faith, because I hold them in good memory and they get the support from others. Liberty - replayed the master version just for this vote - needs some balancing towards the end and some dialogue revisions, but otherwise a fun, quick campaign with decent ...

Re: What mainline campaigns are high quality?

While I myself am holding back from voting because I'm currently doing replays, I can assure you that this is not really a measure of campaign quality (mostly because no definition or guidelines what of "quality" denotes was given). The resulting aggregate is more a measure of popularity and for suc...

Re: LOTI

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

Legacy of Undeath should still work, but this way you lose the legacy the lich would otherwise have. The other way to get three items is Exterminator (scythe, knife, dagger), although you'll have to craft to get anything useful out of that.

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

But how can I get an ancient lich? As far as I know, there's no chance to get a dark adept or a necromancer... Exactly as explained above. You get a Tome of Liches, give that to a unit, take a couple AMLAs from the book (until you get the one "becomes a lich upon death"), then you let the unit die ...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

Dragon rider falls into the category of: can easily be itemized to strong defense while still doing decent damage and doesn't need penetration because of a varied damage profile (especially with another dragon legacy or legacy of the freezing north). Also great movement speed. Good generalist unit w...

[...] Not going to engage that (it reaches the limits of my time, interesting, and feeling of productive discussion and, as I said, I'm not anyone that has to make any decisions, so...) The one thing I will state, before I leave this conversation is that I support the rework knowing fully well that...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.6 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

@Mawmoocn: I don't think so. It is almost certain that there will be stand-alone campaigns as, basically, a fourth set of campaigns (e.g., DiD, UtBS). Not everything has to be pressed into the overarching storylines of the arcs, so everything that doesn't go against given canon could still find a pl...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.6 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

That was mostly PMs on Discord, so until I have time to really write something down (and before that, I need to do a lot of replaying), I can't show you anything besides what nemaara wrote in the Rewrite thread. I'm strongly in favour of nemaara's proposals in the rewrite thread, but I have to say ...

Re: What would you like to see in a longer Dunefolk campaign?

1. I think the Dunefolk are currently in the discussion of becoming another After the Fall faction for an eventual second set of multiplayer factions (together with Quenoth Elves). Should this come to pass, any time during mainline Wesnoth except for UtBS is risky business. However, if they are far ...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.6 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

Does even a single of the most popular and well written existing mainline campaigns, like Northern Rebirth or the Rise of Wesnoth , meet the bar? If there was just one, it could be used as the example of this new quality standard. That gives campaign developers something to work with. But I have se...
