Re: The Beautiful Child

I think I last tried this campaign right after you created it, and I haven't gone back since. I finally did and I like it a little too much (ask my wife). I found the beginning too hard. After dying repeatedly in the first couple scenarios, I hacked a save file to give myself some armour, and then I...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

@MelficeBelmont, I have the save game of the start of the next scenario, so I can tell you exactly how I killed Argan recently. Efraim Flaming Sword Gloomy Amulet and Gloomy Cloak Sinister Lunacy ring (charge) Dark Helm and Dark Gloves of Destruction He has only a few melee AMLAs (just the redeem we...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

@Spirit_of_Currents, I think you can totally play with just the main characters. You won't really be able to explore every map, or grab every kill/item, and some enemies will be extra hard, but I'm pretty sure its doable. I know I've cleared multiple levels with just them. I know my Efraim has 90% k...

Re: dabber's questions: object on unit

I solved the leader modification problem with a turn 1 event that does all the work. That is much easier long term, because now each scenario needs less editing. It also lets me work on any units spawned in the [side] definition automatically.

Re: dabber's questions: object on unit

preload event doesn't work. A lua error shows up, and its definitely from using the variable. I am using 1.14.9 (which reminds me, I should upgrade to 14.14), so maybe that works in 1.15.x?

Re: dabber's questions: object on unit

Many leaders are created in the side definitions. How do I set a variable in the scenario file and then use that variable to modify the leader in the side definition? Even if I set the variable in a prestart event, I get errors trying to access it in the side definition.

Re: dabber's questions: object on unit

I had a really bad couple of days with reading my own code. Percentage increase wasn't working because I put the letter "n" in the variable name when I meant "h", and couldn't seem to see that I mistyped it.

Re: dabber's questions: last breath

I'm pretty sure that the direct action [modify_unit] cannot be placed inside [unit] just like that. That showed me my error. I meant to write [modifications] and instead I wrote [modify_unit] Version that seems to do what I want below. Now I have to mess with another part - getting the percentage i...

Re: dabber's questions: last breath

I want to upgrade the damage and hitpoints of every enemy unit. I did this on recruit successfully, but I cannot make creating a unit directly do it. What am I missing? I tried doing it with an object, basically replacing [advancement] below with [object] and a location filter, but that didn't work ...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

My previous post about chapter 3 was incomplete. AI aggression was changed a couple months ago and I didn't pull it.

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

A couple units in Akula's dungeon of chapter 5, and Akula herself, inflict bonus damage. I thought I had seen something about making that more visible, instead of your units taking damage for no apparent reason. Was anything done about that? Should I do it?

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

I have played part 2 repeatedly, but haven't played part 1 in more than five years. I finally decided to play part 1 again several weeks ago. Playing on hard difficultly, chapter 2 was easy, and chapter 3 is a cakewalk. There are no enemies that will ever attack any of my people. Not just the heroes...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

I found an error(?). With Vritra in Ch8, the "doing more damage with the furious attack" does not increase damage for the {lesser berserk (5)} attack, as the attacks improved by the advancement are 'mberserk', 'mberserk2', and 'mberserk3'; not 'mberserk2', 'mberserk3', and 'mberserk5', as they are ...

Re: Legend of the Invincibles

No. Once you switch to lightning, arcane penetration has no value to the Elder Mage personally.
It would be stronger if the lightning AMLA was a bonus attack, instead of changing the existing attack damage type.

oopsi, spot on analysis. I fixed it on github in January.
