I've always found the ranged vs melee thing in Wesnoth a bit odd. They're basically just keywords that determine who can counterattack against whom. You can call them apple and orange and it makes no difference. Ranged units just don't feel like actual ranged units when you still have to go up close...

Here's another save file with the loyal unit problem. In the recall list, there's a loyal poacher called Cethoc. If you recall him, the income drops from +2 to +1.

Those are automatically added to your inventory.
Except they're not. I tried several times and double-checked my inventory before and after. I never got the item.

Loyal doesn't seem to work when it's randomly generated on a recruited unit.
I can't pick up items the enemy leader drops because the scenario ends.

There seems to be two minor bugs on the tutorial scenario. The Sword of Krux is supposed to give +15% blade resistance, but when Efraim equips it, it doesn't increase his resistance. Leadership and time of day combine additively, not multiplicatively.

So your spearman, who does 8*(1+0.25)=10 damage during the day, does 8*(1+0.25+0.5)=14 under the general, and not 8*(1+0.25)*(1+0.5)=15.

One thing that you can do is use debug mode to kill the unit with undesired traits, then add back the gold, then re-recruit.
