Is 1.11.6 an too old version to play? (not just this but any campaing)

Maybe it's because I use version 1.11.6 but, I can't see neither Ellderon's neither Ithillien's pics (their sprites are ok) and I can't see some parts of the scenario and campaing exclusive unit spries either, advice pls?
Also, how I can do these "[modify_side]" type thing?

I play in 1.9.13

There's a bug on the Ice Lake lvl (I think this is the name)
In the purple wolves 3rd turn a pop-up apears indicating a problem and the game closes
There is something that can be done to this don't happen?

i discovered that the walls blowed up by stepping in a certain hexe, then I moved all my units close to it and passed the "street"; afterr that it was easy
by th way... what is phalanks formation?

Do you have a hint to Escape lvl?
To me it seens impossible to complete it after the walls were just blowed up (it would be easier without the mountains and hills)
Why have you made it so dificult even in very easy mode?
