Re: [Middle] Human Alliance
I have replayed the campaign 4 times (1.10.4) to continuously improve my recall list. The scenario before steals all my L3 (except loyal units). I have fielded powerful armies and used multiple strategies most recently luring a significant portion of the southern orcs into the forest to get slaughte...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
A Few Observations on my second play through of HttT: 1. Elvish Outriders surprisingly don't suck...I know what you're thinking: "Of course they don't suck...they are L3 units" They actually serve a real purpose after the early village grabbing as finishers coming from long range when the ...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
So, I finally beat HttT on medium last night and immediately began replaying the campaign :) The final battle is rather epic but sort of anti-climactic. I held a line and let their waves crash into it. All but one of my heavy calvary got slaughtered, I lost my loyal arch mage, and a whole bunch of g...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
Speaking of beyond L3. Does Konrad's leadership bonus or even his actual level increase beyond L3? When he was supposed to go to "L4", I see that he was healed again but it still said L3...
Does that mean that once Konrad hit's L3 you shouldn't seek to level him anymore?

Re: Is a red mage worth it early in HttT?
I am half way through HttT:The Siege of Elensefar, with 2 red mages (1 is the loyal guy) and 2 regular mages. I halve 1 Elvish L2 healer and 2 L1 Shamans. This is as far as I have gotten but this is the early game right? Red mages rock. They kill (or nearly kill) most L1 things whether it is day or ...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
Last night I beat and then replayed HttT:The Siege of Elsenfar 3 or 4 more times. I am in my ~5th play through at the moment and have just broken the siege. There are no more orcs on the board and skeletons are coming in dribs and drabs as I am regrouping and sending my army northward to the Cave bo...

Re: Too many unbalanced campaigns
I am a huge newb here since I started playing less than 2 weeks ago and am still learning the basic mechanics. I completed The tutorial, The Southern Watch and am playing HttT. The following are my opinions. Once I get ZoC down a little better I think the AI is going to get mowed down. Before you sa...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
In general, from my experience, you should scarcely ever recall units that have finished levelling (except for those especially crucial scenarios like Siege of Elensefar or Valley of Death, IIRC, and the eventual healer/leader that can support your lower-level troops), and avoid as much as possible...

Re: I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
Thanks to everybody for their answers. I initially played this game like Starcraft even after I read through the basic manuals. So if I were to make general summations about Lvl 1 vs. Lvl 2 troops, and combat styles: 1. Unless I am in the off chance that finishing early doesn't net me considerably m...

I've read a lot already: Newb observations and questions
Hi. First I would like to thank everyone who worked at this game. It makes board strategy/tactics games exceptionally accessible. This is my first foray into them and I really enjoy BfW. I've read both the normal and advanced manual. I've done the Southern Watch on Easy. I'm working on HttT on medium...
