Re: Descriptions for the Quenoth Elves (Finished drafts)

But I have a question, shouldn't the Tauroch Vanguard and the Tauroch Flagbearer be reversed? Maybe I've just watched too much fantasy (I blame Lord of the Ring for that) but I feel like the greatest commanders usually take place in the vanguard of the army... I don't know... It's hard to say, real...

Re: Murky Weathercast, debugging errors

You need to load the other file into the main file using the wesnoth.require function. By the way, some of those functions you wrote in that file already exist in Wesnoth, in the "functional" module if I recall correctly.

Re: Routes

If I recall correctly, when I made my maps I just used GIMP or similar software to figure out the coordinates of the target location. That can certainly get tedious when plotting out a long track, mind you.

Re: Gui Debug Tools 0.9.8 for BfW 1.13/1.14

Why would not_living be automatically set if the first three are set? I don't see how the combination of those is equivalent not being a living creature?

Re: Error: Human can play only first map from addon, no another

If you want help you need to make some effort to provide useful information. It's not my job to go seek out your addon to see what's wrong with it.

Re: How to change themes (user interface)?

I have located the issue (someone, possibly even me, made incorrect use of the std::set_precision function) and committed a fix, which will be in 1.14.4 whenever that happens. However, it would be useful if someone could verify the fix before then by building the 1.14 branch and trying a theme that ...

Re: Error: Human can play only first map from addon, no another

I'm sorry to disappoint, but this is not the problem. Two maps can share the same textdomain just fine without issue. I have no idea what the actual problem is though, because you haven't given any information.

Re: How to change themes (user interface)?

This sounds like a bug that could be fixed; I'd just need to know the name of the ThemeWML tag used to display the real-time combat odds, and a summary of the expected behaviour (or you could post a screenshot demonstrating it).

Re: Using a translatable string from Vanilla

Honestly, if you want to make sure it's translated into all the major languages, it would probably be better to actually use a string in your own textdomain and provide the po files for the translations. It's only three words, so I imagine providing all those translations shouldn't be too difficult.

Re: Using a translatable string from Vanilla

As Landiss said, many languages reverse the order of the words, so just taking the first word still won't give you the right answer in all languages that translate it as exactly two words. And what about languages that translate it as three words, or one word? Or even more words?

Re: Using a translatable string from Vanilla

To clarify: You just need to use the same textdomain that was in effect when the string was used in core, then copy-paste the whole string verbatim. That's it. If the string is used in C++ (rather than WML), the textdomain is defined by a line such as #define GETTEXT_TEXTDOMAIN "wesnoth-lib" , and i...

Please don't take anything I say as a "green light". I'm not in charge of the canon or anything like that. But yeah just do what you want, would be my advice.

Re: Translation attempt

You can run Wesnoth with the --all-translations command-line option; then your translation should show up in the language selection list (provided the mo is in the correct location). Or you could use the --language=your-language command-line option. I think that would need the language abbreviation,...

Re: Saurian race description

As far as I know, established canon appears to make saurians typically swamp-dwellers, so I'd find it a little weird to see them in the desert. As reptiles or similar though, I think it's reasonably likely that they can live in the desert if they so choose. Personally I'd suggest just doing what you...
