Re: How about using Context-free Grammar to generate unit na

The problem with Markov chains is that there may be loops or dead ends which can cause very long or very short names. This small example shows, what I mean: Given are the following names: LILA ANNE ALENA This produces the following Markov chain: <start> -> { A, A, L } A -> { <end>, <end>, L, N } E ...

Re: The Altaz Mariners (MP pirate campaign now on 1.14!)

Isle of neafsey is not working properly. The relevant variable shows ab instead of b after hitting some witches. No exit.

Re: Good reading about professional art direction

I just went trough the story of "Northern Rebirth" using Valkier's art. That thread has been gracefully looked by shadowm. I was actually glad. First she compared me to No45, than she called be rude, than she deleted my posts. I was really wondering what would be next. The orcs are a little bit clic...

Re: Northern Rebirth by Valkier!

Ok, I looked into that Tallin. It might not be perfect, but it could work. I decided to use some distortion. I rotated him 5 degrees and made him bigger. I cut a 400x400 selection. For the outline I had to use some filters, because there where whitish pixel. The 2 dwarfs are good to go in my opinion...

Re: Suggestion for 1.14

Wow, awesome! The heavy infantry and the scorpions. I would have never guessed that. So 7 all together. I am totally in line with Celtic_M: The campaign ones might be for a reason, like Delfador tutoring and such. So Arvith and Karrag are the only campaign units having it in the character cfg. I did...

Re: Suggestion for 1.14

I noticed the elvish shaman popping up on the right side playing "elvish dynasty". Totally pointless. I am not sure if there is a need even to mirror this or the sylph. I am guessing the other unkown pieces (probably 3 more) suffering from right side disease are all female too. I would not assume an...

Re: The Altaz Mariners (the non-linear pirate campaign)

You are still working on this one? That is awesome. If you give this ship to ship encounter a graphical refresh, I am willing to help. For starter you could do the 2 ship map diagonal. That would go nicely with the wooden floor! It would help even with the castle design. You could make a ship board ...

Re: Good reading about professional art direction

I read it. ... However, I do feel that the author has a very abrasive style of writing, and you may wish to edit your post to include a Language Warning for that link. I was considering a warning for strong language, but than decided not to take that risk. So go and judge for yourself. The author, ...

Re: Suggestion for 1.14

.... If it were one of my portraits I'd fix it (already did in fact), but I'm reluctant to commit the edited work of another artist unless the license they're released under will allow it. Does it ? ... Since nobody has answered this question for 10 days: I would say GPL is technically allowing to ...

Northern Rebirth by Valkier!

6 years ago Valkier posted a bunch of portraits for the "Northern Rebirth" campaign.

Nobody complained and the job was done. In my versions it is still not in.

Could somebody please check if it is in the 1.14.1 candidate?

Good reading about professional art direction

I would consider this a "must read" for anybody doing game art on a professional level.

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

Awesome Naga and Elyssa! Maybe we should disallow the silver mage upgrade for her in the campaign?

Great Melusand (apart from my issues with the pose itself)!

I look forward to see how the cutting/cropping will be done!

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

Ok third try! The pose looks passiv to me. For me it does not look like she is ruling or leading. The posture looks like dreaming, divining or down or defeated. It looks passive to me. I would perceive the character active. I recommend to look at some videos of Maggy Thatcher to get the idea of a la...

Re: Lordbob's commissionned work: UtBS

Wasn't that lady some kind of ruler? Would be nice if the picture convays age and wisdom and determination. This one appears more like an oracle to me.

But as always, what ever you decide is best.
