Re: The initial campaign...

HttT introduces lots of units and forks, has very tricky scenario But the campaign introduces them in a slow way over time, you start with Konrad and Delfador and elves which you played in the tutorial with, so it's then more easier to see 1 or 2 new units over time, compared to playing a campaign ...

Re: The initial campaign...

Heir to The Throne is the flagship and main campaign of Wesnoth, it makes sense to start with this. Not only that, the player would be more comfortable with the characters ( Konrad and Delfador ) and the elves because he played with them in the tutorial. You will gradually meet new units and situati...

Re: How did you find out about Wesnoth?

I was in search for free online games and stumbled upon this. :D

Played the tutorial and immediately fell in love with it.

I remember SurvivalXtreme! Those were some fun times.
I used to play this before the "RPG classes" was implemented.

I'll check it out again.

Re: New Idea For Multiplayer?

But not all leader units are neccesarily royal kings or queens, you could be a young traveler, a low-ranking commander, a thief, a barbarian, etc. depending on what multiplayer map, era or scenario you're playing. Not to mention that most non-human races don't have these royalty/heir rituals. Orcs w...

Re: [mainline] Loyalist Bowman

The idea is to make loyalists just a little more reliant on their diverse/large unit set, since a faction of 8 units shouldn't rely so much on just 2 or 3. Good! At last, someone has presented an argument for the change instead of just assuming it was needed. So, how does it hold up? What do people...

Re: Experiences on small maps

That's where mages and assassins come in, you threaten your opponent to leave the terrain by poisoning him or you hit him hard with magical attacks. If you can't remove him, you can try to go around him and threaten his villages with footpads, bats, gryphons or skirmishing units. The defender may ha...

Re: Chocobone resistances

I think the reason for Chocobones being able to go on mountains is because skeletons do not feel boredom or fatigue, so they can keep on walking/climbing without needing a pause. It is also said in the description that it is based on ostrich-like large birds, so they are not like horses which can't ...

Re: Use of Cavalrymen and Their Advancements

The scouts of every faction are unique in some way. Elvish Scouts are fast in forests and can use bows. Wolf Riders are fast on hills and have 3 strikes, making it a good support unit for the Orcs aswell as scouting work. Gryphons have extremely high damage and can fly, but in turn it's very expensi...

Re: Dwarvish guardsmen (in 1 vs 1)

Alright, you got me. What would you do to make it more cost-worthy then? I'd go for the "lower the price" approach, I wouldn't touch the damage because afterall, it's supposed to be a sturdy wall, not a brawny fighter. I think reducing it to 17g should do fine, but there can't be made a thorough con...

Re: What does 9/11 mean to you?

Now that's just a terrible thing to say. To anybody anywhere... I think you misunderstood me, I wasn't laughing at death of innocent people, I was laughing at the fact that the attacks on 9/11 were hyped up while things like that happened all the time in other places, but now just because it's Amer...

Re: who can tell me the principal of wesnoth balancing?

Hi, I think Wesnoth is balanced in a matter of how factions, as a whole, operate. Units are not balanced against eachother, but factions are. Basically each unit has a bonus and downside, the Orcish Grunt is the main staple fighter of the Northerners, and it has high damage but the downside is low s...

Re: Dwarvish guardsmen (in 1 vs 1)

I see where you're getting at, but each unit has their role, and for 19g you get a defensive wall. It's a situational unit and I don't see why it would need a buff when it does its job well. It's meant to be a slow mobile wall, same as the heavy infantryman. It's meant to have weak damage, in exchan...
