I also have this problem. You can get rid of the messages by typing : (yes, a lone colon) to open a text-input console at the bottom of the screen, followed by the word CLEAR (capitals not required) and pressing enter/return/whatever you like to call it. This console also allows you to access debug ...

The way you envision Avians in flying mode, they should neither have zone of control, or even prevent other units to entering a hex occupied by an Avian. Increase_attacks and increase_level do not exist, as far as I am aware - just use 'increase' in both cases. I'm not sure if +0.5 attacks will work properly, the best thing is to just try it yourself and see.

If you do not select 'Use Map Settings', then the sliders for gold and income, and people's choices for factions and leaders, will override what you put in the scenario file.

I'm not a great expert on weaponry, so there may be a technical term that I don't know - but personally I would call the bardiche a halberd. The Roman short-sword is a gladius. I can't help with the vouge, as I have never heard of it before and from the image you linked to, I can't actually work out...

I've been trying to download this forever as I loved the early XCOM games (they lost it a bit with Interceptor), but for some reason it's never worked before. Hopefully the new version will work properly for me!

Wayfarer, you are selling yourself short. The Aragwaithi have always been, and still remain, probably my favourite non-mainline sprites for any faction. Some of them (in my not-a-good-sprite-artist opinion) are actually better than most of the mainline units.
