Not having to deal with core units is important reason why eras are used. Ageless version at least will not have core units in EoMa factions while I maintain it.

Since your complaints are about EoMa, I moved the discussion here.

1.8 is not supported anymore. For active versions there is campaignd running where wesnoth can connect to.

That can be best done with [event] first_time_only=yes [filter_condtion]. Turn number is found in autostored variable and for unit count you can use [have_unit].

Unstoring is only implemented for one unit, so put it in loop too.

Or you can use [modify_unit] which is wrapper for this kind of unit modification.

$unit is container variable that includes all data you need to recreate that unit. For id you want $unit.id.
