Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Hmm, okay, well.... what I'm trying to do is let the user choose an option, check the experience of the selected unit, if the experience is high enough, set/increment one of the unit's variables (default_melee, for example), and then apply an object (with its effects) to the unit. I first tried stor...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Okay, I ran into another problem. Is there any way to either set/create a variable to an unstored unit, or apply objects/effects to a stored unit (I would prefer the first option, but if it's not possible, then it doesn't matter too much)? Thanks! (and by setting a variable to an unstored unit, I me...

Re: [and] and [or] filter usage

@Jaume The first set of [or] tags doesn't need to be there. One important thing to remember is if you are using [or] tags, the first conditional statement should not have an [or] tag wrapped around it. So, your code should look like this [event] name=attack end first_time_only=no [and] [filter] [not...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Nope, the [filter] part is the problem. I just tested it by taking out the filter, and it applied the variation (and didn't crash the game). Any reason why, though (the code I showed you is a macro, but that shouldn't make a difference, right)?

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Okay, sorry for the triple post, but I cannot figure out how to do this (I've tried it at least fifteen different ways, have been searching for hours, and am about to kill something...... oh, hey, a fly... ). Anyway, how on earth do you filter an effect so that it only applies to a unit if one of th...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Okay, I've run into a slight (okay, large) problem now that I am no longer unstoring the units that get modified. The problem is, is that, currently, I am setting the upgrade variables to the stored units (via 'tempUnit.variables.upgrades.some_upgrade') and not to the actual unit. So, I am wondering...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Yeah, you're right, it does work. It's just that it doesn't recognize my macros for some reason (which is weird because they work in any of the other files--well, with the custom units anyway--just not in the _main.cfg). Is there any reason why this is? Do I have to include something in the _main.cf...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Yeah, I tried that, but couldn't get it to work. Is it not called like so:

Code: Select all

[effect]
    apply_to=attack
    range=ranged
    [set_specials]
        {CUSTOM_SPECIAL}
    [/set_specials]
[/effect]

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Sweetness, that works superbly! One last thing, though (hopefully): How do you apply [special] to a new attack? Because I have something like the following: [object] #filter to apply to unit [effect] apply_to=new_attack #new attack information [special] {CUSTOM_SPECIAL} [/special] [/effect] [/object...

That would be sweet. I would offer my assistance, but, at the moment, I don't have a whole lot of free time (I'd be happy to share ideas, though, if you need any).

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Yeah, right, I wasn't thinking. What I need is to add options to a [message] from the message's [command] tag..... but that isn't possible is it? Edit: Although, I guess what you posted would work, but there would be a limited amount of attacks it could apply to (which is better than nothing, though...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Can't you apply once that you unstore the unit or before storing it ? Yeah, that's what I'm currently doing. FOREACH doesn't work inside a [message] tag. Okay, what about a [while] loop/tag (because isn't a FOREACH just a modified [while] loop? Also, I'm asking if they'll work within the [command] ...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

@mattsc Yep, the loop works now, thanks. I've come across two other problems, however: 1 - How do you filter an object (or, should I say an object's effect) so that it can be applied to a stored unit? At the moment I'm just storing a unit, checking a variable, un-storing the unit, applying the objec...

[message] questions

@mattsc Yeah, that was the problem, thanks. I have a couple more questions regarding the message/option tags, though: 1 - Is there any way to align the content of the messages/options to the left, instead of center? 2 - How do you create a "back" option so that the user cannot exit out of the messag...

Re: 7thWolf's wml questions

Okay, I am stuck. I have the code setup at the moment so that the user should not be able to choose the health upgrade until the selected unit's health variable is equal to true (or yes), which should get set once the user chooses the melee upgrade; but, at present, the health upgrade never becomes ...
