Re: Movies discussion

So, there's a chance we'll get movie that combines best sides of them both (great visuals, good pacing and staying true to original from Snyder, with new refreshing take on old mythos and great script by Nolan).
Fun fact: Nolan wrote and directed Memento too, apparently. I didn't even know.

Re: Not just "more random"

Why not just add 1/7000 chance that unit you recruit will be "shiny" version that has exactly the same stats, but alternate color palette?

Re: [UMC] Campaign idea focusing on asymmetrical warfare

How about something like this? "Guerilla" factions would be unable to recruit units in keeps, or capture villages - instead, they'd be able to get troops from villages, though selection would be random. To compensate, it'd allow to get units normally unavailable - loyal, or already experienced. Also...

Re: [UMC] Campaign idea focusing on asymmetrical warfare

There are lot of units and skills that would be perfect for such campaign (conceal, poison, backstab, ambush etc.) as properly used they'd allow to defeat technically stronger foe.
Also, stealing villages (reminiscent of IRL cutting supplies) is already a viable tactic in Wesnoth.

@8680: Um, I don't see his last visit date (he always hides it), my guess is that you do since you're admin on Novalia. His last post was in late March though.
I'll send him an e-mail, let's hope he didn't change it since before R2D forums moving.

Re: Age of Wonders III

They don't look bad, they just... don't look much like AoW anymore. I mean, one thing these games didn't have, was "overdone" style. Everything was kept relatively realistic and, so most nations footmen were just a guy in chainmail, with shield and sword/axe (most looking rather practical), rather t...

Re: Monsters!

1: Third leg is hidden by the body thanks to perspective. 2: Sprites always have "cartoony" unrealistic exaggerated proportions. For humans it means "super deformed" look, with proportionally giant weapons and heads, here - it means wings are resized to better fit rest of the sprite. 3: Though the i...

Re: No range attacks

Actually, this is very problematic issue in all kinds of tactical games. You see, there is HUGE tactical difference between only being able to strike enemy right next to you, and being able to fire at him from a distance. This difference is huge enough that most game tactical usually deal with it in...

I suppose I could also position him something like a naga, actually standing upright on a snake-body, but I don't get that impression from the portrait either. To me, he looks like he floats. The long spine in the portrait is way too thin to hold him up otherwise. What? It is as thick as man's fist...

Re: UAPEB: the reasoning?

I always thought UAPEB makes no sense (with levelling up, healing, single enchanted sword being enough to boost attack of whole unit, names, genders and character traits - whole battalions are dexterous or quick? What?) and game just runs on the same rules most RPGs do (which is not weird, since it'...
