Re: Return to Noelren 0.7.6

I've been quite enjoying this campaign. An exploration-based campaign is a really great idea, and it seems every scenario has a new creative idea in it! I especially like Patti's magic wand, hopping between worlds (there could have been more of this beyond just the Errands scenario), Lestiviel's sp...

Yes, the "No Luck Era" and "No Randomness Mod" are available on the addons server.

Re: Stem tracks released for TM, TKID, OTNM and others.

I'm really sorry to read this, but I'm not surprised. Using your stems requires skills very few people have, and certainly not the GPL cops. They probably think hassling creators is a valuable contribution, but every sensible person knows it's works like yours which make Wesnoth better, not their ra...

Re: Proposal for a YAMG integration in Wesnoth

Since you and fabi bring me into this I think I will contribute my 2 cents. Fabi maybe, but I never did that. I only said you and I have opposite views on programming. It's strange you read here an invitation to join the discussion. My proposal is only a suggestion to make easier integration and ma...

Re: Proposal for a YAMG integration in Wesnoth

It's time to put an end to this farce. Don't be silly. IMO, it's clear now this integration will never happen. I don't think so. The first issue I want to put the qt toolkit support into use is a gui dialog for controlling YAMG. Which is exactly why it will never happen. The story is more than two ...

Re: Proposal for a YAMG integration in Wesnoth

I have already agreed to include YAMG into the map/scenario editor. There is not a single voice with the opinion that the YAMG wouldn't be a nice thing to have. Thus integration into the mp create screen and scenario WML shouldn't be a problem as well, at least from a "opportunity" point of view. I...

Re: Proposal for a YAMG integration in Wesnoth

Please note, this is not (only ?) a question of different tastes and styles. Some of our developers use automatic tools which check for common c++ code problems and those really don't like YAMG. There were even some memory holes in there. I am sure that Wesnoth linking against a memory hole is a no...

Proposal for a YAMG integration in Wesnoth

Hi ! This topic is to discuss the technical issues of a possible integration of the YAMG in Wesnoth, not its opportunity (project manager job and decision). The development thread contains the full history of the project, and I think it is the good place to discuss features and results. If you have ...

Re: Behaviour Tree Genetic Algorithm

Hi !
I read your thesis this afternoon and found it very interesting and stimulating. I'm only a little frustrated with the fitness functions and would have been glad to learn more about them. Anyway, it would be fine if you could advance more in your work some day.

Thanks for sharing it !

Re: Your favourite campaigns

Fate of a princess obviously has a female protagonist. That said, a lot of campaign have female characters just as important than male. Bad Moon rising, Legend of the Invincibles, A new Order, and more you'll find on the review list.

Re: Yet another map generator (templates)

Hi ! Do you ever dream to play Blackwater port in winter ? Now you can easily:  BlackwaterM.jpg More seriously, here is a new feature of the generator: it can now use a plain Wesnoth map as a template and decorate it using the same options it has on generated map. For example, this crude draft:...

Re: lua random map generation

It's true that boost random may change of course, but if it did it would be to add new features or to fix bugs that broke this thing, i.e. if for some platform/compiler combination it didn't work, or went extremely slowly, or some other bug. For instance, here's the boost version: http://www.boost....

Re: lua random map generation

Standard rand gives different results on different platforms. Since I wanted to warrant the same result everywhere, I had to insert a random generator in my program. It's only a few lines of code, and it introduces no external dependency to a lib always subject to changes. There is no reason to bel...

Re: lua random map generation

Pyrophorus: Sorry, I was just kidding when I wrote 'this is for you', I only meant that I added the ability to get mt19937 in lua in part because I remembered that you added it for your generator, presumably because you found "rand" inadequate for your needs (I think that's quite reasonable). It is...

Re: lua random map generation

You can instantiate wesnoth's high-quality random generator (mt19937, much better than the "rand" used by lua's math.random) by using the table Rng to create an rng object, with seed and draw methods. See example code above. This is for you pyrophorus :) No, thanks... I have already one in my gener...
