Re: What are you reading right now?

Lois Lowry - The Giver. Well written and certainly a fun and easy read, but I often had the impression it was 1984 for children. The organisation of the society and aspects clearly almost copied from the 1984, like the speakers, lead to this impression, There wasn't much that set it apart from most ...

Re: Help! Finding a map!

There are different versions of Orocia to be found on the addon server, if I remember correctly; enter "Orocia" in the search line, download what comes up and see if any of the maps there correspond with what you want.

Re: What was your first Programming Language

As as many have included markup languages, first HTML, then CSS.
Counting only real programming languages, I started C++ a few months ago. I haven't got that far though due to other projects, mainly literature and art.

Re: What are you reading right now?

Jean-Paul Sartre - Nausea A bit more drawn-out and harder to read than Iron in the Soul , but none the less an interesting read; the novel is mixed well with the philosophical essay. Finally picked up A Clash of Kings again, and yes, I had a wrong impression from the not-so-good start. Another great...

Re: What games are you playing right now?

Still playing a lot of Glest (gradually improving) and in the middle of Beneath a Steel Sky.
Both great games.

Re: What are you reading right now?

Jean-Paul Sartre - Iron in the Soul After reading some of his philosophical essays, I thought I'd give this a go, and was positively surprised - an interesting and well-written book. I'll happily finish this and read more by the author. Cornelia Funke - Reckless. The reason why I'm reading this is b...

Re: Regarding Santa Claus

I don't remember ever being seriously told about him; the only times he was mentioned was in jest.

Re: Wesnoth fan-fic: The Blackness Comes

Not bad, but a few things could be improved: What I noticed while reading it is a very close connection to the game; I felt as if you would say "However, they had a 40% resistance to blade" in the next sentence. Describing the different effectivenesses of the weapons less might help. In ad...

Re: Questions of Death

I'm sure he could move other souls around like he does his own. But there are obviously limitations, or everyone in Wesnoth would be possessed by some macho lich. I think that that would be extremely hard; in the theory of a lich taking over bodies, he would (in my opinion) kill his victim, thus se...

The waterfall looks a little flat, but otherwise great. I can only dream of this.

Re: What are you playing right now? (Games)

I have recently downloaded Glest and am enjoying it very much; however, I will probably download some new maps / mods, as two factions and a rather small number of maps don't provide endless fun (for me, at least). There are tons of good user-made content for you download on the forums . ;) (I pers...

Re: Questions of Death

I meant a sort of control over a body by taking it over with one's soul, not controlling the mind of another. By killing or violently tearing the soul from another's body, a life- and soulless corpse. Then, he could give up his current body - probably by a ritual similar to that of transformation to...

Re: Questions of Death

Could be one of the reasons why necromancy is so much frowned upon in Wesnoth – or maybe it is a thought, like ”He can thwart death and I can't – thus he's the bad guy.” Simple jealousness. I had always taken it as a "Help, it's unnatural, so it's evil" approach to necromancy - there woul...

Re: Favorite Wesnoth Character?

Mal / Malin Keshar. Along with Lady Jessica.
Both have an interesting life and character, where some people (e.g. Konrad or the thousands of necromancers thrown at you in some campaigns) have a more sterotypic good hero / evil antagonist character.

Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?

Lord of the Rings or The Matrix, can't decide. The Matrix had some scenes that didn't appeal to me that much or were too repetitive, but I love the general idea; Lord of the Rings was a great film, but I still prefer the books. Inception was good, but had numerous flaws so I won't count it as a favo...
