Re: You really need to rethink your portability strategy

I did software rendering of the old tunnel demo using OpenGL to display the frame and SDL 2 to initialize the window in a way that works great on Retina. I got consistent 60 FPS from it in fullscreen, so unless Wesnoth suffers from crazy overdraw it could be a way out of our performance predicament....

Re: You really need to rethink your portability strategy

I also noticed there is a scaling bar now below the minimap. It makes looking at things more bearable (although it looks like something like linear interpolation), but even with it FPS is still abysmal.

Re: You really need to rethink your portability strategy

I think making a graphics setting to scale 1x, 2x or 3x and fixing SDL windowed mode issues to use proper scaling is the best option at this point, I'll try to do that. I'll start with a small patch re-enabling the passive OpenMP mode on OS X (which got disabled in 659b9a414131ed9dfc2f4682afc28f3a57...

Re: You really need to rethink your portability strategy

I can try if I find the time, although I'm not familiar with the project. Is the XCode project file being maintained? I'm using SCons right now, but if I have to maintain the project file, I'd like to know that in advance. It would surely be nice if I had someone to ask about these things. Also, a b...

You really need to rethink your portability strategy

This is not a fun way to play! In addition to all things being ridiculously tiny, it also suffers from abysmal performance, probably because all rendering is done in software by Cairo. And the windowed mode has the same mouse positioning bug it had back in 2010 when I last played Wesnoth on Ubuntu,...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs story

An interesting way to accomplish that would be a distinct dichotomy between the dialogue in-scenario, and the inter-scenario text. The former could show Delfy in a more realistic light - generally similar to now, but more arrogant, less well-liked, more manipulative. The latter could then be presen...

Re: Delfador's Memoirs story

This issue is not with any single mission, the missions are fairly good. Thank you for the link to the wiki.

Delfador's Memoirs story

I almost finished playing this campaign, and I am SICK! The scenarios themselves were good (a little balancing would be nice, though), but the story was a big disappointment, especially after mostly good Httt. Why is Delfador such a Mary Sue? I swear, EVERYONE he has met in that story immediately th...

Re: Scenario Review: DM 17 - A New Ally

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Medium (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 2 — The Undead here was very weak. (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Crystal clear. (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scen...
